This was a one night stopover before I headed off into the mountains on a short trip along the winding roads through the villages between Vélez-Malaga and Competa.
It was an excellent choice in terms of location, easy parking (I parked outside even though it was mid-holiday season) and comfort. It’s on the main coast road at the western edge of Caleta de Vélez (where the large weekly Saturday market takes place) with the sea and marina at its rear.
The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but has its own bar which sells a variety of snacks (where I had my very inexpensive breakfast) and is a short walking distance from a choice of restaurants.
It is modern, bright and has the look and feel of many four star hotels I have stayed in.
My room was large, very comfortable and had a balcony overlooking the road and hills beyond. Despite this it was very quiet.
The girl at reception was efficient and really pleasant and chatty with all her guests. I went back to say hello when we visited the market a few days later.
El Paraiso was a really great choice and highly recommended.

Great location, easy walking distance to the sea, Aldi nearby. Balcony, with a magnificent view and facing west, was no need to use the air conditioner. No problems with parking. Swimming pool with nice temperature sea water and safeguard. Fully equipped kitchen with induction hob.
Hostal El Puerto is located in Caleta de Vélez, less than 5 minutes’ walk from the beach and the marina. It offers rooms with air conditioning, TV and private bathroom.

I highly recommend this unit, the room is very comfortable, complete, clean, close to restaurants, beaches, and supermarkets. The best thing is that the bus stop is right infront of the house, very easy if you want to travel to Malaga or Nerja. Coffee and tea are always available.

The area had a convenient supermarket and we were a short walk to the beach. There were a few bars and restaurants but a couple of them were not open. The beach was busy most days especially in the evenings. Quiet and residential also with a nice marina area. It was a nice 25 min walk along the promenade to Torre del Mar for more choice of bars and restaurants.

Great walking next to the sea everyday. The marina was interesting.I loved seeing the authentic houses instead of blocks of flats. Local people were friendly. Everything is at hand. I ate in a good fish restaurant and a good Italian one; both on the sea front. The prices are good. The bar Manolo is very good value. I stayed for three nights and that was perfect for this time of year.

It’s a very old Spanish area not on the tourist trail, so there are very few English people and hardly any bars or restaurants that speak english, which for us, is the fun of it. Many a time thinking we’ve ordered something and get something totally different. 😊

The seafront is fantastic with beaches and sea that are regularly cleaned with lots of facilities such as changing areas and toilets plus lifeguards. the promenade which stretches for miles in both directions is beautiful and takes you into the busier resort of Torre Del mar with all of its shops, bars and restaurants. The Restaurant by Caleta Harbour is fantastic

My recent stay at the Hostal el Puerto was enjoyable. It was nice and easy to find the Hotel, and upon arrival, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and a big smile from the staff. The view over the beach from our room added an extra layer of tranquility to our stay. Waking up to the gentle sound of waves made our morning at the hotel a magical experience.
Lovely hotel overlooking the marina, great location for everything, bars, cafes, shops, beach nearby. Maria, the receptionist, was so helpful and friendly, she changed our date for us at the last minute due to an unavoidable delay on our part. She is so warm and personable, an absolute asset to the hotel. We will definitely visit here again!
The location was amazing! The hotel is right at the beach, yet in a calm place. And the staff is very friendly and helpful. One could feel that it was run by a family. I would book there again whenever I would be in the area!
