Hotel La Jungla, hotel in Puerto Villamil

Located in Puerto Villamil, a few steps from Puerto Villamil Beach, Hotel La Jungla provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking and a shared lounge.

Friendly staff: The staff was helpful and accommodating, we were not told we had to pay in cash until we arrived, but the owner allowed us to pay via PayPal without an extra fee. Quiet location: Despite being near a bar, the noise was minimal, especially during your stay. However, this may vary during peak season when the bar closes later and there are more people. Convenient amenities: The accommodation offers a water dispenser, shared fridge, and shared kitchen for guest use. Great location: Close to downtown tour agencies, restaurants, the beach, and flamingo sightings. Cleanliness: The room was cleaned daily, and towels were provided fresh each day.

We enjoyed Isabel Island the most of the three Islands we stayed at. Fantastic wildlife. The sunrises and sunsets, long beach walks, Los Tunnels Tour, bike rental, trails, tortoise natural reserve, plenty of shops for fresh fish and produce, plenty of restaurants with delicious food, panaderias with baked goods and early morning coffee. Awesome locals that were very friendly and helpful. Exceeded all our expectations.

We enjoyed traveling beyond Santa Cruz Island for a few nights, just to experience the "vibe" of a different island. The town of Puerto Villamil is relaxed, very friendly and a charming beach town. Most of the area is walkable, though taxis were very cheap (less than $5).

Isabela is a backpacker's destination with very poor...

Isabela is a backpacker's destination with very poor infrastructure and low level restaurants. And it's extremely expensive for a European, especially if you come from a non Euro-country given the appreciation of the USD. We struggled to find a decent restaurant and it turned out that the Mexican was the best (full every night). To give you an example of cost, a main course was between USD19-30 which in eg Spain would have been aprox USD8. Price/quality ratio is among the worst we've experienced. Ecuador, especially the islands, is a cash only-no receipt-economy with the purpose of squeezing the last dollar out of the tourists. We left with few intentions of returning which is a shame given the amazing animals and nature. People are mostly very friendly and helpful which was a nice.

The laid-back beach town vibes here are so much different...

The laid-back beach town vibes here are so much different than Puerto Ayora and Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on the other islands. We loved the relaxing atmosphere and I wish we'd planned this stop toward the end of the trip instead of right at the beginning. Make sure you do a trip to Los Tuneles while you're there - the scenery is fantastic and it was the best snorkeling we had on our week in the islands.

Puerto Villamil is small but welcoming and very beautiful...

Puerto Villamil is small but welcoming and very beautiful with great opportunities for snorkeling, walking, biking, swimming, kayaking etc. Most restaurants seem to serve "pizza" for tourists, but it's possible to avoid that for more traditional and delicious fare. The local beer is good, the people are friendly and it's well worth the effort to visit. The wildlife is spread around the island, but you can experience an incredible variety in the near vicinity - flamingos, penguins, sea lions, manta rays, sea horses, turtles, tortoises, iguanas, lava lizards, blue-footed/nazca boobies and other incredible sea birds, sharks and colourful fishes, I can't wait to go back :)

    Nice place, really relaxing.

Nice place, really relaxing. Not too many good options to go out for dinner and the nice restaurants are quite expensive. But this is the rule in Galapagos. If you don't have much money, I would not recommend to stay many nights here, because the day trips are hugely expensive and there is not many free options otherwise staying in the central beach.

Excellent Apartment Hotel in Isabela, our host Nancy was attentive and communicated with us during our entire stay, she was willing to help us with anything. The hotel seems brand new! The kitchen, with coffee maker, is a really nice to have, especially if you plan on a more extended stay. Drinking water was provided and much appreciated. The hotel is a 7-10min easy walk from downtown/beach, little "tienda" market next door. Our favorite stay in Galapagos, would not hesitate to stay here again! Thank you!

Owners friendly and helpful. Inn is comfortable and cute with beautiful ocean views from upper patio areas. Lots of comfortable seating up there with large umbrellas for needed shade. Small plunge pool (hot tub sized) was great for cooling off. Highly recommend before bed! Blue footed boobies, marine iguanas, and pelicans right on the beach! Beach was the longest we saw in the Galapagos. Convenient walk to tortoise center and into town. You do need a taxi from the port, but only $2.

We actually were switched to a stay at La Laguna just around the corner from Hostal Villamil, owned by the same person. La Laguna is a very clean, modern property with very comfortable beds, air conditioned rooms, and very helpful staff. Tours can be arranged easily at the desk, excellent English is spoken. Just a couple of blocks to the center of town and the beach. Breakfast available at the hotel beginning at 7am. Good Wifi connection for our entire stay.

location was fantastic - our room was across the road from the beach, but the bar has hammocks right on the beach which are part of the hotel and for use by the guests. There is a roof terrace with a pool table which overlooks the lagoon with flamingos in it. The room was spacious and clean and a nice place to stay. puerto villamil is also a lovely little beachside town and was our favourite place to stay in Ecuador. we highly recommend going there.

They are a wonderful family who run the hotel. It was very comfortable and great location in between the beach front road and the central market (for good, economical meals). The hotel is also right next to a pond where we spotted two flamingoes. Would absolutely stay here again!

We had an enormous room looking right out over the beach. The hotel is built a bit like a tree house, so most of the rooms require climbing stairs. I found it pretty cool, but it would be difficult if you have mobility issues or heavy luggage.
