Perfect location for us. Great hiking around the grounds. Staff was helpful, but no one was around during the night.

We went for just one day for a break from Quito, about one hour away (taking the turn-off from the Occidental). The landscape is lovely. Nono stretches along more or less just a single road down the hill for maybe a kilometre or two. There's not much there really, but there's a bread shop half way down on the left that sells 'pristiños' with honey, which are a sort of doughnut mix deep fired. Nice. We visited a waterfall, several km out of Nono. Pleasant walk in the forest, underwhelming waterfall. This is good walking or cycling terrain but as it is probably mostly privately owned, I don't know how possible that is. Local knowledge required (which I don't have).
