CasKaffeSu was one of the best places I stayed in during my trip to Ecuador. And compared to the price, it is the best by far! I can't believe I only paid $27 for one night including breakfast. The check in experience was smooth and they allowed me to check in early. The family that runs the place is incredibly friendly and helpful, next time I am back in Mindo I am certainly staying there. The rooms are comfortable and quite and the facilities are colorful and nicely designed. I cannot recommend it enough.

Staff was very helpful! Arranged a taxi at a great rate for pick-up from the quito airport and made organizing any activities in Mindo very smooth and straightforward. The space is very clean, spacious and beautiful. The beds are comfortable, didn’t have any issues with bugs or heat despite there being no AC. Hot water & great water pressure in the shower. It’s a very close walk to center of town but allows you to be fully submersed in nature. Gorgeous garden!

Mindo has a lot of wonderful nature options. Feeding hummingbirds, the BEST butterfly gardens we have ever visited and we have been to many & really good bird watching - we used Sandra & Romelly at Bird Paradaisio (sp) & had alot of fun & Romelly drove us back safely to Quito but took us on an extra bird sighting trip on the way that was super - wonderful too! The trails to the waterfalls was a lot of fun & the falls are worth the trek although these out of shape older folks didn't make it to them all. The chocolate tour at Yumbos led by Amir was wonderful! We enjoyed both the tarabita & telerifico rides although the last was a bit scary, terrific views! Prices for everything was very reasonable, food may be a bit higher than rest of Ecuador but not too bad. Limited options though as most menus looked almost the same. One place we would definitely come back to. Only the food options were a little lacking. Everything else was fun & it was nice to be out of big cities.

Mindo has so many things to do.
Mindo has so many things to do. We took a ride on the cable car (Tabita) and then hiked to see the 5 waterfalls. We toured a butterfly house and took a coffee tour. The town is small so walking was the way to explore. We only needed a taxi to get to the hiking. Definitely take a truck taxi since the roads are rough and windy to get to the top. Our driver gave us his phone number to call him when were finished hiking. There are so many different restaurants to choose from and very good prices. We enjoyed our two night stay at the El Descanso where we saw so many tropical birds (especially hummingbirds) right off the back patio.

Mindo is a lovely little town, famous for chocolate, butterflies and waterfalls! Although there’s a lot of activities, you can get through most of them in 2 days, which makes it a great weekend travel destination.
Temperatures are usually mild due to it being in the clouds.

I've visited here twice, once in 2001 and the second time in 2023. I would say it has actually improved quite a lot in that time; the road into town is better, and the facilities in the area are much better. There are some much better restaurants and small cafes, and more "fun" activities available than there used to be. At the same time, the development hasn't been allowed to run rampant, so it still has the feel of a small town in the subtropics.
We were so pleased with our hotel experience. We stayed at the canopy house which was amazing. The view from the room of the Andean cloud forestthe outdoor jacuzzi, waking up to birdsong. The fresh breakfast was amazing, but so were all of the meals. The staff was very friendly. They happily entertained my 10 year old birder educating him about the local birds. Really kind, good people. We almost didn’t want to leave the hotel room because of the wonderful access to birdwatching. We loved our experience.
The room is really magic. The view incredible and the bed super comfortable. Get some snacks in town as this is really Glamping, not a hotel with all the expected niceties. You’re a bit out of town center but cabs are easy and cheap and it’s fantastically quiet and peaceful. Giovanny, your host, was fantastic and made everything so easy for us. There’s a nearby waterfall, river rafting right next door and the fire flies at night are truly magical!
nice little 1 bedroomed apartment with kitchenette. clean and modern. great location within walking distance of restaurants etc. best of all was Ronny who was always helpful and ready to smile, both with hotel matters but also with everything else we asked for including help with a mislaid credit card! excellent job, Ronny, many thanks. 👍
Hotel that is beautifully decorated and surrounded by lush jungle and ponds. We had a small patio in the room as well as a hot tub which was wonderful after a day of hiking. Complimentary breakfast, ping pong table, plenty of additional space to just hang out, chat, read. Staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly!
The room looked into forest and was great for birdwatching. Fresh fruit and fresh pastries with eggs for breakfast. Nearby Mindo River. Best part was host Paola who was very warm and engaging. Went on chocolate tour with Paola and enjoyed her sweet cat Luna. Pleasant walk into town partly on a dirt road.
The place is very private, so if that is what you're looking for it's a great option. The hosts were also very helpful and hospitable. The facilities were handy, we were able to cook a couple of meals in the kitchen. A good, affordable base to set up with a group to enjoy the activities Mindo has to offer.
Location is excellent - minutes to get anywhere and no dogs making noise; hotel is new and very well thought out. Super clean; Staff is very professional and knowledgeable on the area. Food is very very good. Hummingbirds on the covered deck are incredible! So so happy we stayed here!
The room was extremely clean, expansive, and modern. Having a TV in the bedroom was nice, as well as having Netflix on the TV. The wifi was fast and worked well, especially by Ecuador standards. Expensive by local standards but you absolutely get what you pay for.
The hotel is very new. Just 2,5 years old and in an excellent condition. A lot of wood.
The lodge is quite outside of Mindo and therefore nice quiet and you can see a lot of birds.
The service is very kind and helping wherever they can.
This is a lovely hostel, a little off the main road which had me worried walking there at night alone, but actually mindo is a very safe place and it wasn't very far. Hummingbirds everywhere, beautiful house and a friendly atmosphere.
This was an amazing hotel, owners upgraded us upon arrival. Breakfast was amazing, location was perfect close to town. Owner helped with all communications for local trips. Wish I could have stayed longer! Mindo is amazing!
Good hostel! The family is really nice and the rooms are good. A couple of hammocks and a kitchen with filtered water and a fridge. Few minutes away from the centre but Mindo is small anyway :)
Very nice place in the center of Mindo. Loved the Colibries and all of the birds that can be observed from the beautiful garden.
