The hotel is a great example of a stylish renovation of a historic building with all modern conveniences. Our daughters had a suite in the attic of the old building, which was all beams and sloping ceilings. We had a generous suite in the modern annexe. The staff were super nice. We loved our late breakfasts on the balcony at the back of house.

I am very disappointed with this hotel. I arrived at 0.30 a.m. and the hotel was closed and no one opened for me. It was not stated on booking.com or on the hotel's website that the reception is closed from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. and it is not possible to check in. It was also stated on the website that it is possible to cancel the reservation free of charge, but they charged me 49 euros for nothing and I had to find another hotel in the night and pay for it!. Very unprofessional service!

Wuppertal is a beautifull city surrounded by hills. The city is mostly known for the Schwebebahn. A hanging train that goes through the city as a metro but hangs mostly above the Wupper river. The city center is large and offers a lot of nice stores and restaurants.
Located next to Wuppertal is Solingen a city known for the Haribo candy factory and knifes factories (hence the name Solinger knives).
Take a ride along the Schwebebahn to Wuppertal Vohwinkel, you will pass the Wuppertal Zoo and stadion. From Vohwinkel take the Trolleybus line 683 to Solingen and you will pass along Haribo factory and different museums.

The only plus point for Wuppertal is the unique Scwebebahn suspended monorail. Well worth a ride. The place itself has deprived and dilapidated post industrial vibe, with older retired heavy industry workers and younger immigrants from all over. A fair amount of drunken/drugged indigents on the streets of the city centre.

Well if you are interested in Countryside and History then this valley of Wupper is a great place to visit. The industrial beginnings of Modern Germany pretty much starts here. We came because the suspension railway was on my bucket list. It really is a sensational marvel. We will probably come back... Even if it wasn't for this memorable trip on the Schwebebahn the town has hills and museums, an opera house and a good zoo. Oh the food is good too, try the X Kebab, a wonderful modern twist on Turkish cuisine served by the friendliest of staff...

Wuppertal had very few activities to do. It is more of a place for relaxing in a valley while still staying in touch with the civilisation. The suspended tram was a great attraction and it was a great experience to ride on it.
Our family of three loved our 2-week stay here!
The home was bigger than expected, very clean, bright, modern, stylish and functional. It was fully stocked with everything we needed for our visit (including kitchen supplies). We also took advantage of the nice outdoor seating and beautiful views.
Our host, Jens, was very friendly and quick to respond.
We definitely plan to stay here during our next Wuppertal visit and highly recommend it for both short and long-term stays.
Very nice modernized old stylish hotel. We had a very spacious room on the 3rd floor with a very large bathroom and a large shower that is not typical in Europe. Excellent breakfast with made to order eggs in a very nice glass enclosed breakfast room. One of the best hotels we ever stayed at in the 13 European countries we have visited and 50+ hotels. Parking on site. We stayed in Ronsdorf to explore the city that my father and ancestors were born in.
Check in was very quick, staff was very friendly and happy to answer any questions. The room was spacious and clean! Same goes for the bathroom.
Hotel is located near the station, so everything was a short walking distance.
Breakfast was awesome, a bit on the pricy side, but the choice and quality of the food made it worth it.

Comfortable enough for a several-day business stay. I appreciated that drinking water was always available. Strategic location of the hotel near the main train station and within walking distance to the city center with restaurants and bars.
Quite close to the Schwebebahn (metro of Wuppertal) station, with regular service to Wuppertal city centre and Vohwinkel (trolleybus to Sollingen or Vohwinkel train station). No food options, but the breakfast at the nearby pretzel place is quite good. Not too many rooms sharing a bathroom and enough space in the room for a comfortable stay. Room also has its own sink, which is good.

The hotel reopened only recently after a profound refurbishing. I wish we could have stayed longer (we stayed one night only).
The personnel was extremely nice and helful. The young lady at the bar went out of her way to find a restaurant for us and guide our steps in the city. I use this occasion to forward to her my "VIELEN DANK"!
Second time at Hotel Astor, It's an older hotel, but they had done some refurbishment since the first time. Beds are fine, everything is fine, as long as you know it's older and appreciate their effort to keep the place nice. Don't forget to visit the Wuppertal Zoo on one end of the Schwebebahn track, near the stadium.
I think this place was perfect. Really big apartman in quite place. A lot of space and easy to park with car. We received all required information in advance so there is no surprise for us. I am really glad that we choose this accommodation for our stay in Wuppertal city.
