My son-in-law and I were walking the Mosel-Camino and it was an ideal stopping place. We were welcomed very cheerfully and had a very good meal with white wine. We were tired so it was good to be able to eat in. We had a very good breakfast next day. Very important when on a walking trip. I think the husband was busy with the grape harvest but we had a good chat with the wife. Very relaxed and comfortable and really lovely part of the Moselle.

This family-run hotel is located in Moselkern on the banks of the Moselle River. It offers large rooms, free parking spaces and a German-style breakfast buffet each morning.
Treis-Karden is a good base to go hiking. The hiking trail to Burg Eltz was very nice, I did the black route. The last part is the heaviest part. I went to the viewing point of the castle and then went back. I did that because there is an entrance fee that you have to pay for the castle, even if you just want to order food and drinks.
In the afternoon I went to Mörsdorf to visit the Geierlay hanging bridge, which was awesome. Note that the bus (line 746) does not go there every hour and that the line is not currently on Google Maps. So search online for the schedule or visit the tourist office in the train station. During my stay the buses ran from the water-side of the station instead of the official bus stop, so double check if that is the case for you.
Both these things could have been their own day, since there are more hiking trails available in both places.

This is a perfect base for exploring the Mosel river valley. With 2-3 days to find all the sites up and down the river, from Trier, up river, or downriver to Cochem, every little town is worth a stop. The owner of this B & B is very helpful, friendly, and proud of her 16th century home.

I visited in early Nov. probably the visiting pick is already off (ie. no ship stop already). Treis-Karden has train station which almost all the trains from Koblenz to Trier stops (only 4-5 big stop, Treis-Karden is likely among them).
Beautiful small town with slow speed and very local way of living. After sunset people go back to home. ^ ^
To Eltz burg, from Trees-Karden is possible. there is a burg bus (not so often). It is about 5-6 km, also walkable (200-300m up) with very nice view of Mosel valley.

This is the second time we stop at this hotel on our way home. Very good and practical design of the room: layout, furniture new , night table at the bed, enough extra-sockets near the bed, clean and nice decorated rooms. Big size of the room and bathroom with large windows to be able to see Mosel river(a bit)
Family run hotel in a convenient location for touring the Mosel valley and close to at least two "Weinguts". Within a few minutes walk of the river. It was good to be able to eat dinner at the Pension, which has a nice menu. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable beds. Secure bike storage available.
Nice people, good breakfast. Nice pool but could be a little warmer. free parking but no electric car charger. there is nothing in walking distance but I think there is a bus stop. But recommend having a car for this hotel. Also nice dinner.
The room was incredibly clean to a standard that major hotel chains will not be able to deliver. As previously mentioned, the location is superb. The train station is located on the other side of the river, approximately 10 minutes on foot.
