The port area is bustling with tourists and events, and you can definitely enjoy your time there. Don't forget to visit the calmer beachside of the lake near the Spielplatz. You can enjoy the cool wind with sun there and, if adventurous, also a swim.
Lindau island is not so big. You can make a round trip easily in a day. Don't hurry up, enjoy the sceneries, may be a boat ride.
I would like to give a shout-out Helin Döner & Pizza. We just loved the Döner there, definitely worth trying.
I forgot my water shoes, I would be definitely taking them for my next trip.

We've come back several times for the opera at Bregenz.
We've come back several times for the opera at Bregenz.
This time I enjoyed swimming near the Pulverturm. The Alte Post was good for dinner and so was the restaurant of the Hotel Lindauer Hof. We liked having lunch on the terrace of the Bayerischer Hof Hotel. Some good buskers on the Promenade. Bregenz Opera excellent and very enjoyable way to get to it is the ferry with glass of prosecco.
Also we were glad to see the small exhibition on comets in the old Town Library and we very much appreciated that some of the fascinating information about the library and its books was translated into English. More of that in general would be great.
Also we enjoyed the organ recital on Sunday morning in one of the churches on the Market Square. We didn't cycle round the lake this time but usually enjoy that very much
We liked our hotel the Hotel Brugger Garni. It was reasonably priced and had lovely staff and good breakfast.
A great visit all round!

I was born in Lindau and it’s been 26 years that I have been back the next time it will be longer. My husband and I loved the food and ate outside every Day. Be prepared to do a lot of walking forget about high heels because cobble stones everywhere. We took a Boot trip around the Bodensee but missed Mainau.

Lindau Island is relatively small & easily covered in a day (maybe 2 at a push). We would have liked to have used the ferries more & visit more places on the lake, however, some of the ferry journey times are quite long for a day trip. That said we really enjoyed our stay at Lindau & very glad we visited.

Lindau is a pretty town but get there early.
Lindau is a pretty town but get there early. We arrived at 11am and all the car parks were already full so we used the bus.
The harbour is the main attraction and you can get boats here to other places on Bodensee and if you don´t want to do that walking around the town is very easy and there are loads of nice shops and places to eat that aren´t as busy as those at the harbour.
8km / 10 minutes drive, from Lindau is mount Pfänder.
The cable car runs every 30 minutes from 8 am to 7pm and every 15 minutes if it´s busy. It costs 15 euro return for adults and 7,50 children.
Present you parking ticket at one of the Pfändebahn ticket offices and Pfönderbahn guests who park in the Pfäderbahn parking spaces at the valley station P6 or in the parking garage on Schillerstrasse P15 will receive 3 hours parking for free.

Very good location ; very near to walk everywhere in Lindau.
There is a big car park building on the street besides the lake you can leave your car ( safe and cost is not too much) and then you must walk a few min for upper narrow street.
The hotel is just besides the church and behind the Museum (was under renovation).
The breaksaft is fair enough.
For our late arrival , they put our key in a safe box in enterence & they called and informed for password , was good service.
Charming little hotel on a perfect location. Very calm and nice. Breakfast was exceptional and staff friendly and kind.
We took a walk in the park in the morning to the lake, which is near. We had a dinner in a restaurant 'Leopold am See', which is 10-15 min by walk in a beautiful nature. In case I return to the Bodensee I will surely stay there. Good value for your money. The parking is free!
Small room but well equipped and fine for a single traveller. My room was at the back, away from any traffic noise. I could walk from Lindau Insel station in 10 minutes. Air conditioning, wifi and shower all worked well. Breakfast was included. Good value for Lindau. I would stay again.
The hotel is located less than 10 minutes by car from Lindau Island (Lindau Insel) where the old town and more touristic part of the city rests. The room was comfortable, clean and had a good bathroom. Staff was nice and helpful. Good place to stay visiting Lindau.
Beautiful hotel on the lakeside. For a large hotel, the welcome was very personal with a glass of local fizz on arrival. The staff go out of their way to be helpful. Short 2km walk to the island of Lindau along the lake.
