The people who live here are so friendly, the cafés so delicious, and the local beer freshly brewed.

The place is spotless, I lived here as a British service child. It seems to have much changed on the surface (well it would in 49 years!). The town is very quiet which is great if you like a peaceful night. It's in a beautiful part of the country with much to explore. If you like burgers look no further than Cafe Outback. I had the best burger and bratkartoffeln in years!

A very small town where there is not much to do, one day is enough to see everything. Haven't had the time to hike in nature, guess that can be a nice thing to do here. Was here for a reuse of modernist building workshop.
The very friendly host waited for us after providing our estimated arrival time, and gave us a short history of this very old and historic house. The house itself, like most others in Detmold, is indeed very interesting and beautiful, both from the outside and inside. The studio apartment on the top floor was equipped with a modern kitchen, but we didn't needed it due to all the close-by options. The small dining/living room is also big enough for 2 people. You can park for free above the Palaisgarten, just a 15min walk uphill.
This is the best place to stay in Detmold! You can walk to grocery and bakery. It is a beautiful, spacious, and quiet place. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner in their lovely modern kitchen which had everything we needed. The flat is in a charming residential area. Private parking space for our rental car. The host was helpful, kind, and immediately responded to our questions. Excellent!!
Our daughter lives in Detmold and it was a 10 minute walk to her place and the park and opera house. We will rent this place again!
Much love has gone into making this property feel great. Clearly the owner is a person of sophistication without being ostentatious. Really was very easy to get to town on foot. The owner incredibly helpful and responsive. Next time I come to Detmold I would definitely look here first. I was there in the winter and it felt snug and safe. I can see it being great in the summer too. Cannot rate this highly enough.
Staff was extremely helpful, our flight was delayed and we only arrived after midnight but there was no issue with check-in, the key was left in a locked box and we received the PIN by email. Room was a bit cold when we arrived but with the heater it was no problem. Bed was quite comfortable.
Location was perfect, right in the center of Detmold and we were very close to where we needed to be in the morning.
Splendid breakfast (lovely fresh bread) and really helpful people, both in the breakfast room and at the arrival desk - in fact, everywhere in the hotel! The honesty system for acquiring a bottle of beer (or water) in the evening simply excellent. Everything in this hotel had been thought about, and taken care of: I've never known a hotel bathroom with so many places to hang things up, for example.

The accommodation was spacious, spotlessly clean and had many thoughtful touches. We were given a very friendly welcome by Gerd and the flat had everything we needed for our stay. The area is peaceful and we would highly recommend a visit. We would liked to have stayed for longer and hope to return.

We had a little problem, the toilet was not stopping. So we immediately got a new room.

The little apartment is located in a beautiful old house right in the historical centre of Detmold. The bed was very comfortable and overall it was a very nice room. The wooden bathroom was for sure a highlight for me, great hair dryer!
This is a well-appointed flat. It's about 15 minutes walking distance from the centre of Detmold. The town itself is a good centre for exploring the region by car, and there's no shortage of good destinations in the area.
Very friendly hostess. We had a very relaxed stay at this apartment, at walking distance to the surprisingly nice city centre of Detmold. The apartment was very well equipped, clean, cozy and recently renovated.
The accommodation was really clean and I was able to rest comfortably. In particular, it was nice to be able to cook and eat as there are various kitchen tools in the hotel.
