Located in a small village, it was nice to be in a quiet area. The famous caves of the area are a short drive away. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The highlight was the in-house restaurant. Dinner was exceptional and so too breakfast. Great cooking, and good service. Very friendly hosts. Easy parking on site.
A carefully restored former school building, Hotel Stara Skola is located in the centre of Sloup in Moravian Karst Region.

Sometimes you can get surprised while traveling. Once I had a trip with my family, I found the "Old school" hotel. That was brilliant, because my daughter - school girl was traveling with us. How I was surprised, when I realized that the hotel I booked was indeed former school. I asked my doughtier if she imagined she can spend a night in school? That was real adventure.
We arrived quite late, but the captain was so welcoming. He offered us superb czech supper. He told me that grandfather of the present owner was the last director of the school.
Rooms are made in the former school classes and cabinets. Parking place is large and safe. Cuisine is brilliantly czech-style. Beer is fresh.
The breakfast in the morning also was home-style and tasty.
I saw they have SPA, but we hadn’t tome for it. Left it for the next time.
The hotel is placed in the middle of the village in front of the church, so you will be pleased by hourly melody of church bells. Staying here, you have possibility to visit the complex of caves only in 10 minutes walking from the hotel.
So me and my family were pleasantly surprised. I would especially recomend the place for visitors with school-aged children. If I am ones more in that land, I would obviously to stay in the Old School hotel ones more.

The owner is psycho. Since first moment he asked me questions how exactly did I process the booking. When I told him that I chose 4 bed room he said that he will not provide it. Instead of it he offered alternative small 2 bed room. I asked him to show it me before payment to be sure I am comfortable with new room. He refused to show me anything. I asked him back to show me 4 bed room which I booked originally as he noted that the room is crashed after some business trip party stayed there. He also refused to show me with note that that´s not my right to see any rooms. At the end the price at the site was different from booking.com. As you can read in previous reviews he is cheating everybody.

A small village that has a very good Penzion/restaurant in it. Great food and service for great prices. A place where one can go hiking, shopping, sightseeing. and or caving nearby with just a short drive in a car or a ride on a bike.
It is a quit place with rolling hills all around it. If somebody does not like big towns with a lot of traffic and people, this place is for you.

Village. One shop one restaurant (good), forests and fields.
Village. One shop one restaurant (good), forests and fields. A few kilometres away from lake for swimming, about three km (two miles) from town, say ten kilometers to famous cave and abyss (Macocha). Nature around, relax. Brno city is about forty kilometers with all shops, clubs, etc. This is sleepy hollow in good meaning.
Several castles within twenty kilometers radius.
Location get ten points if you seek relaxing nature. There are attractions like horse raidings, but mainly it is quiet, nearly tranquile experience. City (Brno) is roughly half an hour far away.
Breakfast was served, but choice was really good. And amount more than enough. Home made products, like patte, even butter! Bread nice and fresh. Lunch and dinner in hotels' restaurant was lovely, traditional Czech cooking. We had actually two rooms apartment, with harder, but good beds.
The hotel staff were very accommodating and the location was perfect for visiting the nearby famous caves. Parking is also very easy right outside. The breakfast was excellent and dinner at the on-site restaurant is very recommended.
