Fabulous stay at this beautiful property! The staff, the ambience, the service and all little details in the room were top notch. There are only (6) rooms on the property, so all guests receive excellent service from the staff. The room is very comfortable, A/C, hot water, a rainfall shower and comfortable beds with daily linen changes. The staff is super attentive and will do their best to get you whatever you need.
Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Hotel Isla del Sol is located on Isla Grande Island in the Rosario Islands archipelago. It offers on-site water sports and a private beach area.

Beautiful location, so relaxing to have the ocean breeze sway you in a hammock. I scuba dive and the onsite dive shop was a dream.

Absolutely incredible spot. Crystal clear water (albeit some trash below the waves), relaxing in cabanas with great food and drink, and exploring the island (don't miss village life in Orika). The bioluminscent tour was truly memorable, as were the otherworldly mangroves and exploring other islands nearby with Luis Filipe (fantastic tour guide; highly recommend!).

The trip is too long, you go with a fast boat that is not comfortable at all. High speed, jumping the waves, it gave me a headache once we arraigned to Cartagena from isla grande.
I think the island is not worth it, I recommend instead a full day excursion to baru from Cartagena.

Loved the quiet and elegant boutique hotel vibe.
Loved the quiet and elegant boutique hotel vibe. The hotel was full of really lovely interesting guests and the staff were really welcoming and attentive.
We loved our stay there as quiet interlude to the fast pace of Cartagena.
If you're looking for party vibe then Coralina is not for you (head to Bora Bora). If you're looking for beautiful island shabby-chic luxury then Coralina is perfect.

Incredible place to rest, away from the tiresome sellspeople that crowd Playa Blanca and Barú offering from massages to wrist bands. Here you can actually REST, and do whatever you want to do, snorkeling, kayaking reading. Even work, if you must, the wifi connection was great at the hostel we stayed.
You can easily walk the island or do a round trip vía Kayak (3-4 hours aprox). The Mangle are really beautiful and that's a nice tour to have. The little village of Orika (1500 ppl) is really nice and peple are very kind with tourists. There were 2-3 restaurants that I can remember, but none looked tempting so we stayed with the Hostel restaurant for health sake. No need to improvise. :)
It's a small island perfect for introspection and sea sports as mentioned before. I'd say it's a mandatory visit if you go to Cartagena (hey, you can even sacrifice Playa Blanca without loosing too much, if you must prune a few days of your stay), but definitely try to visit the island. We travelled with 3 kids aged 16, 13 and 12. and 3 nights at the hostel hit the spot for them. More would have been a little too much for them.

This is the furthest island and honestly there’s nothing to do here. Specifically at this hotel, there was only two lawn chairs where the sun actually reached and the rest were always in the shade. And the two that were in sun were always occupied. The one time we did get to sit in them, the dock it’s on was not sturdy or secure. In fact the board under the chair broke as my friend was laying in it!! And the chair leg went towards the water.
The hotel itself had no beach so you had to walk 20 minutes to get there and it was not easily accessible by any means. All the other beaches were private and you had to pay for.
They offered theee excursions - I can’t speak to one. But the other two were scams.

It felt really remote but with everything you needed (be prepared, no A/C.
The Caipirinhas are FANTASTIC how they make them.
Kayaks pull up with cocktails from outside vendors. Adds a fun element.
Most nights they offered something to do after the day trippers left.

This is an island that is completely run for the profits of...
This is an island that is completely run for the profits of the beach resorts who cater almost exclusively to the day-trippers from Cartagena. This means that if you are not in one of these resorts your access to much of the island is restricted. For the most part, there are no evident access points into the interior of the island from these resorts and we found ourselves entering through service entrances to try to get the coast, or a bar and were often found trespassing. Some of these resorts are more welcoming than others and some charge an entry fee for non-guests. However, many of these resorts don't seem to have overnight guests and, therefore, shut up shop after 4pm so there is little-to-no evening activity on the island (and no street lights, so make sure to have a torch with you)
There are some fun and interesting activities to do on the island - enough to fill a day, but the limited access when staying there meant that we were very ready to leave after two nights.
the staff was INCREDIBLE. they really made us feel so special and took care of us to make sure we were having a great time! it’s rare to find a place that so deeply and genuinely cares about their guests. we booked some excursions through the hotel, and their in-house guide Tomas took us personally on his boat to go snorkeling and swimming at the enchanted lagoon. it was so incredibly personal and special! the view from our cabin was also stunning, and the food at the restaurant was delicious. we hope to come back!
Very well kept property with beautiful touches added everywhere in the room and on the property. The staff was very attentive and very friendly. Jorge (the manager) was very helpful and managed to accommodate our last minute transportation changes back to Cartagena. The massage lady Johanna was amazing . Roland could speak great English and was helpful in translating our needs to other staff members. Yuri, Edwin and other staff members were all amazing . Sunsets were gorgeous.
Everything, the place is super beautiful, the sea is just out of this world!
The staff is amazing, especially Yuri, a very nice guy.
There only 6 rooms on the hotel, after 3 pm (time the tours leave) the hotel becomes really intimate and super nice.
During the day, there is loud music and beautiful sun.
At night, the music is ambient and calm.
The food is good and drinks also.
The pool area is simply amazing!
Fantastic place to stay at for a few days. Nice clean bungalows with beautiful view of the sea. Clean and cute beach with great food and drinks. The wifi was reliable and the staff was also very friendly. The hotel offers nice day trips around the island for snorkeling and diving. Just what we needed to finish off our trip to Colombia, 2 days of rest and relaxation in amazing surroundings.
- we were the first ones dropped off on the boat from Cartagena
- Room was very spacious
- Decent beach at hotel
- Fried fish lunch was delicious (not included)
- Breakfast also tasty (included)
- good location kinda in the middle of the island
Tips: down load the app All Trails and download the map for the island ahead of time. Google maps doesn’t show the walking trails or directions
location location location, this hotel is located in the most incredible place, that’s really what the hotel is all about. I had a great time so don’t be put off by negative reviews. however, I didn’t expect gourmet dining ( but the food was tasty and so fresh). the staff were wonderful but definitely worth learning a few words of Spanish before you travel as it will reallly help.
Staff were lovely . Food was really delicious and great value . The beach was small and most people dismiss it , but for me it was perfect because it was so peaceful , often I was the only one there. Unlike the neighbouring hotels . I was in an upstairs private room overlooking breakfast room, and it was very quiet , no problems with neighbours or music from the bar
They have the best beaches at Isla Grande with a nice sunrise every morning. There enough places with sun and also with shadow.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I can warmly recommend you to talk to David. He pays most attention to all guests speak perfect English and he arranged a very nice tour for us.
Beautiful beach with comfortable lounges. It is not a party island which was perfect for what we were looking for. I particularly liked that the hotel is owned by the native community, I like supporting local initiatives. And they are pros in making your stay comfortable.
The staff was extremely kind and profesional. This was by far the best service we had in Colombia. The food at the hotel was also great although the cocktails were a bit pricey. The hotel seamlessly organized the tours and transport we needed
Comfortable eco hostel with everything you need. Great value for money! Isla Grande is small so everything is really within walking distance. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The advertisement for this hostel was very accurate.
Excellent value resort in beautiful Carribean Island. The hotel restaurant is terrific, every single meal was of a high standard. If anything we are impressed how good the cooking is for this remote location.
Location! Hotel has unbeatable location, many rooms have direct access to the ocean. The islands don't have much sandy beaches, so as this resort. Staff are nice and doing the best that they can.
Large and very nice rooms, including terrace with hammock and sea view
Very clean and big hotel area, feels like private island after 3pm
Friendly staff
Nice food at the hotel restaurant
Beautiful location.
The staff are an asset to the hotel - attentive and welcoming.
