The Langham, Hefei, hotel in Ershilipu

The Langham, Hefei has a fitness center, garden, a shared lounge and restaurant in Hefei. Attractively set in the Shushan District district, this hotel provides a bar, as well as an indoor pool.

It was my first time staying in The Langham Hefei, though I can say it was my third as I extended my stay twice. The staff’s courtesy, warmth and right level of care started right at entry of the hotel lobby. The wall to wall and floor to ceiling marble can be cold, but The Langham Hefei ‘s lobby feels warm and happy due to its yellow hue lighting I believe. I could immediately smell flowers once I stepped in the lobby, pleasant but not overwhelming. It came from a huge bouquet composed of hundreds of pink lilies, not the pink roses representing The Langham worldwide. I prefer lily’s smell anyway. The bouquet is by the front desk, so one could enjoy the lilies while waiting for check-in. As a matter of fact, I waited no time. Ada Yang greeted me and checked me in within 2 minutes. I was very glad I moved from the other 5-star hotel which I had been told it was considered the ceiling of Hefei hotel scene. It took that hotel 10 minutes to check me in plus swiped my credit card on the wrong machine that caused the spending authority refused initially. The breakfast experience was also great! The Seasons restaurant has a big capacity so I was always able to be seated whenever I went down. House keeping also checks on guests each afternoon not see any additional help are needed. After two nights stay, I decided to change my original plan to continue staying at The Langham Hefei. It was again Ada Yang who helped me with the extension. She continued to be warm, professional and efficient. Due to my itinerary change, I extended my stay again. This time it was Kristen He (XIAO He) who helped me. From XIAO He I also experienced the Langham quality- courtesy, warmth, knowledge and efficiency. Being asked about absence of Langham’s pink uniform, she explained to me the responsibilities of each role and separation of roles in Langham’s efforts to optimize guests’ experience. She went extra miles to ask her manager’s permission to give me a complimentary Happy Hour.

I speak fluent mandarin and have had long stays in China...

I speak fluent mandarin and have had long stays in China several times, including Hefei were I stayed for 6 months. In this context, I picked this neighborhood to meet up with some old friends and because I was looking more for a "family, local life experience" than a more flashy, central (and expensive ;) venue. Hefei is not a super touristic city, and this is not a touristic neigbourhood, but if you are unimpressed by skylines glowing in the dark and shiny malls this is were you should go. I was very satisfied with the local, authentic aspect of the neighbourhood. You have tons of little shops to get food, an amazing park, and a real view of people's life in a middle-small range city of central China: inhabitants sitting in front of their shops, kuaidi (fast delivery drivers) resting on their bikes in the middle of their shift, grannies dancing, young couples strolling in mini night market... I didn't find it hard to get there and roam around the city from there. There is a good subway system in Hefei, all translated in english, that brings you to various other neighbourhoods within a range of 30-45 minuts, taxis are also quite easy to get. If not a mandarin speaker, I would recommend you have a phone with access to local network so you can point at what you want. However, I had chosen it in hope it would be calm and it was not. I find it extremely hard to predict whether a hotel will be calm or not in China, but here is a tip: if there is a plaza near your hotel, you will have loud music playing at dusk and dawn. The smaller the city, the louder the music: "plaza dancing an singing" is not a huge thing in bigger cities.
