Staff were very friendly and helpful. I ordered dinner ahead and they made sure it was available. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean and did not smell. The driver waited patiently at the airport to pick us up.

I attained the objective of my visit. But for the poor hygiene and sanitation at the Hotel Sawa, all other things were very good.
Dinner at the Gemi Wing restaurant was excellent.
I can easily move around Douala because of the availability of different transport options.
On my net visit, I will avoid the Sawa Hotel

Douala is the life wire of the Cameroon economy, with lots businesses centered here. It is easy to get around with yellow taxi, taxi from your hotel or using a mobile app to get a taxi.
The town is at the sea bed of the atlantic ocean and the wouri river, heavy rainfall, hot and humid weather! Akwa, where my hotel was located, was not clean at all, especially at Boulevard Ahmadou Ahidjo. The streets had not been swept and refuse dump every where.

The house was dusty and the fridge dirty.
The house was dusty and the fridge dirty. The sheet were of the same as what was advertised hence not changed. The electricity is prepaid and i have to pay for that. I later noted that under the bed was never swept. ( see picture). They were cockroaches in the bathroom. Overall the state of the place was so dirty and not worth the money paid.

Douala is a beautiful city but you just have to be careful when making a reservation for a place to stay because you can see many of them online of which they do exist even if you do resaved a place make sure to having a conversation with them before starting your journey if ever the contact number provided doesn’t go through forget it because it will never go through.

If you want to have excellent and gorgeous fish for lunch/dinner, go to Base Navale, there you will find places looking very simple, some built in colonial style, but the feeling and the fresh catch of the day will let you dream.
Every single thing. The hotel , the pool , the view . EVERYTHING. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful. I recommend best western plus Soaho to everyone travelling to douala and plus its 10 mins walk to the airport. 10 mins walk to Grand Mall (a large shopping centre) . My daughter and I arrived at 3 am and I had not included to my booking I’ll need a driver but the staff ( Dany ) went out of his way to pick me us up from the airport. We had a beautiful sleep and an amazing breakfast. ❤️❤️❤️
Everything about the place is superb. Lovely, homely, extremely comfortable, fully equipped, surprisingly modern, quiet, secure, safe and well located. Jean Francois is the most understanding and kind host. He gave us a lift, carried all our luggage in his truck and took us to the flat. That made a whole difference, as we had too many suitcases. I highly recommend this place to anyone. This will be my home from home anytime I come to Cameroon. We love the place 😍👌🏼
Staff was very friendly and helpful. From the security person to the restaurant staff, most were professional, friendly and had good customer service. Repair services were prompt. The option of airport pick up with the van is very good. If new to Douala, the reception team provide excellent support, advice on better means of transportation around the city. The laundary/dry cleaning service adjacent to the hotel is amazing and very much needed for longstay.
The appartment is well situated, easy to go in and well guarded. Its very safe and very clean. Inside is very beautiful and spacious for a family of 5.
The concierge was very helpful, friendly and very available. The owner as well was very kind and friendly.
Overall, the appartment is great, and it got all the needs for a holiday. My family was happy and they didn't want to leave so we will definitely book it for our next trip in Cameroon.
The staff were absolutely wonderful. They were welcoming, helpful and attentive. It was very easy to arrange for a hotel shuttle and the shuttle was waiting at the airport when I arrived. The breakfast was decent fruits, croissants, beignets and a more hearty breakfast of beans and other dressings if that is you’re preference. There are also omelets available upon request.
The hotel shuttle driver waited for me outside the airport for hours in the middle of the night after my luggage was lost and I had no internet to communicate about my delayed timing–total lifesaver! Staff also arranged for an early check-in on my return & overall the hotel was great.
it’s an amazing quite hotel in a good centralized location, i did everything I had to do in Douala on time.
The Staff was amazing, though they aren’t bilingual, they managed to understand everything I wanted.
On my second visit to this hotel I was upgraded to a mini-suite which was wonderful. I would recommend this hotel to travelers who are passing through Douala because the hotel's shuttle service is excellent.
there is no safety at this hotel. Breakfast is the same everyday( Bread and Eggs). Rooms are not cleaned , bathrooms are even worst. Would not recommend it at all to a friend or colleagues.
