I liked the atmosphere of the room and that the room had a little sitting area with a couch and chair. that is something that I haven't seen often in other hotels.

I grew up in St. John's and it is a great spot for a visit.
I grew up in St. John's and it is a great spot for a visit. The facilities for tourists have really increased over the last 20 years and there are a lot of great restaurants and shops for tourists to experience. The sites in a city that is 400 years old are quite varied and there is ready access to nature visiting sites as well within an hour of the city core.
Pack for pretty variable weather that trends to cooler and damper.

The city offers so much history and with a wonderful presentation at The Rooms. We had a fun screeched in ceremony at Christians with skipper Lukey. The view from signal Hill shows it all. Cape spear and Quidi Vidi can not be missed as well. Especially having lunch at the Mallard Cottage and an Iceberg at the brew company. The waterfront in St. John’s is very interesting and worth the walk.

We stayed at this hotel upon arriving at the airport at 2:30 am.
Shuttle was waiting by the time we got to the pick up point. Great service. Friendly reception. Sufficient breakfast offerings. Great staff in all areas. Perfect for our needs.
Unexpectedly, we spent a second night at the end of our trip when our flight to Toronto was cancelled. Again--great staff in all areas.

Loved the Harbour and the pedestrian mall.
Loved the Harbour and the pedestrian mall. Very hilly, I will definitely be in better shape before my next visit (the unexpected humidity was exhausting, but we made the best of that!)
Everything was close by, very easy to get around.

Best recommendation is: Take the Metro Bus from your hotel to the Pedestrian Plaza on Water Street for shopping and restaurants. It is closed off for the summer and the shopping is delightful. Lots of outdoor patios. We chose one of the outdoor pubs for fish and chips and a local brew. Perfect! Now walk up the stairs at the Courthouse and see the Jelly Bean Houses. Pier 10 is a great place to see the cruise ships docking. Just down the hill from Water Street, this is where the bus lets you off. Catch the Hop on Hop off for lots of sights - located outside of the Alt Hotel on Water Street.

St-John's and the whole Newfoundland is a very unique place.
St-John's and the whole Newfoundland is a very unique place. If you love nature , it is the place for you , yet it also has great restaurants and nightlife and the people there are amazingly friendly and proud of their culture and province . There is a lot of talent from there and the art is amazing .So they will go out of their way to make you feel welcome and bring you the best experience ever. !
Awesome location, with access to everything from a central downtown location. The staff was amazing, courteous, helpful, and provided excellent service. We were even greeted and checked in by the General Manager who met us at the parking garage, and was absolutely awesome in orienting us to our amazing room! Overall, this was an truly excellent stay and a highly recommended boutique hotel!
The Duckworth is mine and my boyfriend’s favourite hotel in St Johns. Everytime we visit the city we want to be downtown, not for the bars but for the feel of downtown. The Duckworth is square downtown, affordable, clean, and the old building is beautiful. I think we have stayed in every room possible now and will never stay in another hotel as long as the Duckworth is available.
The hotel was right downtown close to all the shopping and restaurants. The beds were extremely comfortable and the linens lovely. The rooms had everything a family would need including a microwave and small refrigerator. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Had a great swim in the pool. Will definitely be back.
McKay Manor on Duckworth was a very nice place to stay in St. John's Newfoundland! We loved the location, it was very clean and comfortable. The location was close to most things we wanted to see and do. Overall, it was a great experience! Would recommend to anyone going to St. John's.
Cute property within walking distance to downtown. One of the many "jelly bean" homes. Good variety of foods for breakfast. Free parking. As it is another refurbished property there are lots of stairs. The building was once the home of famed Newfoundland photographer Elsie Holoway
super helpful, friendly staff. The location is excellent - I could walk to everywhere I wanted to visit in Downtown St. John’s. Lovely harbour view from my room, even though it was shrouded in mist! Very clean with a good shower. I’d recommend the hotel to friends, for sure.
Clean, comfortable, spacious apartment. Convenient to downtown locations. Washer and drier were handy. It had all we could ask for. I’d recommend this apartment. However, this may not be suitable for anyone who has mobility issues as there are steps to climb.
very clean and nice location. the hotel is not the closest to downtown but it is relatively close.. approx 20 min walk to George street.
the room itself was very nice and large tv. it also had a small fridge.
parking is free and they have an underground
The hotel is a heritage mansion that has been beautifully updated. The room was easily the most elegant hotel room in which we have stayed for many years. The breakfast was adequate and the location is excellent, only a brief walk to the downtown core.
A fusion of what true St. John's has to offer - an old building downtown, with decent parking options, lovely rooms with natural light and still incorporated a kind of cozy hostel type of feeling. All the right elements. Excellent.
The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was the best I've seen at a hotel in a long time, and the seafood chowder was amazing. We appreciate having clean towels each day.
We have stayed here before, and absolutely love the location, as it’s close to everything downtown. We also love the rustic charm and how cozy this hotel feels compared to the newer “box hotel” chains
We stay here whenever in St. John’s. Rooms are very good size, clean and comfortable. Hotel is handy to many stores and restaurants. Rates are very reasonable.
