Lovely couple and very nice welcome. The place is comfy and all the facilities are there, amazing "water" chemney. The flat is very well equipped and very pretty, great bed and very quiet at night.
Waterloo was perfect for our stay in Belgium. We wanted to be close to Brussels without being in the city. We spent one morning at The Lion Mound, which was incredible (highly recommend) and then we went into Brussels, which was stunning. (again, highly recommend). The next day we took a drive out to Ypres to see the WWI trenches at Sanctuary Wood. It is an amazing preservation of history, and you can actually walk the trenches and tunnels. Then after that we continued on to the museum and beach at Dunkirk. The driving wasn't bad at all, and we finished the day back in Waterloo for dinner.

If you are a Napoleonic war buff-Waterloo is a must see!
If you are a Napoleonic war buff-Waterloo is a must see! It is well done with a museum, a panorama, and the Lion's Mound. There are some other museums (Napolean's HQ, Wellington museum, and the Hougoumont Farm) worth seeing, as well. If you go to the Wellington Museum first, the lady is very friendly and offered the multi-museum ticket as a money saving option. We did this and saved. I'm sure any of the museums might offer the multi-ticket.
Restaurants: we went to a place called "Wood Wayne"-they have nachos, hamburgers, and other American type of foods. They were the least expensive outside of Burger King and KFC. If you want Belgium "cuisine" - then, expect to pay $$$
Overall, Waterloo is a great historical site. The battle field is still visible and you can get a sureal feel for what actually took place in June of 1815. To get this fascinating feeling, you must climb up the Lion's Mound. What a view!!!

Waterloo is a great place to visit.
Waterloo is a great place to visit. The monument and museum is well worth a visit as is the temporary ABBA exhibition. The Mont Saint John brewery makes the best Belgian beer and has a lovely gift shop. The Carrefour hypermarket is one of the best we've visited, as is the adjoining Lunch Garden, and there are other good shops and restaurants around.

There is a good selection of places to eat - for some you may need to book but we just walked into 2 which were excellent. There are the usual popular chains too - McDonalds, Pizza Hut etc. on the outskirts
Parking is easy and free
The park is a lovely space and there seem to be regular art exhibitions too.
Musee Wellington is small but has plenty of info and the new Napoleon in Egypt room is fascinating
The town has plenty of independent shops including a book shop.

We were there to meet friends but also took the opportunity to go to New Waterloo Museum. We went to Museum which impressively is set underground with no sign of it until you get near. Potentially it could be brilliant. Sadly it was such a disappointment. We had iPhones and downloaded the app unfortunately the numbered sections were either slow to load or wouldn’t load the vocals at all. Added to this as you go through the numbered sections do not run in order. I was left totally frustrated. We were so lucky then to go up the mound and meet a geek as he described himself who gave us a brilliant 45 minute account of the battle.

We absolutely loved our stay here. Our hosts were so incredibly kind. They both went over and beyond at every opportunity. I would recommend staying here to anyone looking at a trip to Waterloo. It was a great base to get to Brussels and it was walking distance to buses that took you straight to the historic battlefields! Highly highly recommend!
Ideal location for visiting Waterloo and town museum. The property was exactly as described with a comfortable room and the added bonus of the use of the ‘guest’ kitchen. There’s a great deli/food market (Foodies) close by where we bought our supper. Veronique was very prompt with communication and offered us off-street parking too.
Located in a quite street 20 mins walk to Waterloo centre. Has a nice outside space for coffee etc. Very clean and comfortable with all the facilities you need. The hosts are the nicest people you could meet and always very helpful.
A modern, well appointed and welcoming hotel in center of town and with easy access and free parking. Good facilities and excellent service by friendly staff. Large room, colossal bed and spotless bathroom.
The beds are out of this world. I nearly missed the time to start off for the airport, the bed was way too soft, dark curtains so you have zero light from outside.
