Located 18 km from the Iguazú Falls UNESCO World Heritage Site, Puerto Iguazú is an Argentinean town situated near the Brazilian border, in the Province of Misiones. Its compact city centre is packed with restaurants, cafés and shops, while the area is well-known for its red soil and lush vegetation.
The stunning falls comprise 275 individual falls spread over 3 km between Argentina and Brazil. They have a maximum height of 80 metres and a water flow that can be three times superior to that of the Niagara Falls.
The Guaraní natives named the falls ‘iguazú’, meaning ‘big water’. The national park was founded in 1907, and some of the best hotels in Puerto Iguazú are located in the road linking the city centre to the falls. Some hotels on the Argentinean side of the waterfalls offer beautiful views.
The local bus station offers links to several long-distance destinations, including Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. The city is served by Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport, while the Brazilian Foz do Iguaçu International Airport is 16 km away.
Whether you need a backpacker hostel, a hotel near the airport, or a 5-star resort, don’t miss the Puerto Iguazú deals available on Booking.com!

Puerto Iguazú is a commercial border town with lots of green spaces and a beautiful view of the rivers where Paraguay, Argentina, and Iguazú meet. The best part is the Iguazú Falls which are 30 minutes by bus for US$5 each way.

It is easy and cost effective to take a bus from the city bus terminal to the National Park. Once there, a small train will take you to the two stations where the trail heads are located. There are approximately five or six walking trails (the trails are not strenuous) that you can take that will take you to numerous waterfall viewpoints. The highlight for most people is the short trail to the Garganta del Diablo.

The water falls are totally amazing , take your time and allow a full whole day for both sides
Did not have the time to go through the town itself.
Booking.com arranged the taxi as part of the deal, this was a problem for me as there was a swap of cars at the boarder that was very worrying , not clear and to be honest i though we was going to something bad to happen. I would suggest you make sure you have a taxi that takes you from door to door. this des work fine as we had a taxi take us direct from the jungle lodge to the airport on our return to home.

Definitely recommend staying at Puerto Iguazú when visiting the waterfalls. I've been to the nearby town in Brasil too (Foz do Iguaçu) and it didn't seem as nice. In Puerto Iguazú you have all you need: a conveniently located bus terminal with many buses (some also cross the border, check the timetable in advance), a launderette, farmacy, nightlife with nice restaurants for any budget.
The only hard thing was cash withdrawal. I solved it by exchanging some of my cash into Argentinian pesos.
You should visit both the Argentinian and Brasilian sides of the waterfalls.
On the Argentinian side, be aware that there's an independent company in the waterfalls park which organises boat trips which need to be booked in advance (if you're interested in a boat trip).
In Brasil, you should also visit Parque Das Aves and the huge Itaipú dam.
Allow ~4 days in total, it will be beautiful!

Amazing bucket list experience!
Amazing bucket list experience! We went later in the day and rode the boat ride that took us practically right next to the falls! Truly awe-inspiring and something that all should experience. Prices are great. Be prepared for the steps down, and then back up!...to and from the boats - it's a bit of a climb. Didn't get to do much else at the park - if there is a next time, we will go earlier to get the full experience!

This place was a blessing as I had trouble with my previous property. The hotel exceeded my expectations. It was super clean, the pool was clean and had enough beds. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast option was wonderful to have, with enough food and drinks to choose from. The location is superb, close to all the lovely restaurants on the main street and, the bus station where you can buy tickets to Iguazu Falls (Argentinian and Brazilian side).
Ariel, the host, is a gentleman and speaks Portuguese, English and obviously Spanish. The place is in a decent location, half an hour walk from the hub of Puerto Iguazu. There’s a supermarket nearby. Very comfortable bed. Clean with good kitchen facilities. Great for the price.
Modern, comfortable hotel situated a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Puerto Iguazú. Staff are fantastic, very helpful and most of them speak excellent English. They even helped us to rent a car from a local agency.
