The best place we stayed in Costa Rica. Dario and Frederica have set up something special here in Dos Brazos, near the Corcovado National Park. Set in the heart of the jungle, in a lovely small Gold Mining village this beautiful guest house is a fantastic place to stay. Great welcome, the most comfortable bed, shower and space of our trip so far. A lovely fresh breakfast, great self catering facilities (but Frederica is a chef and will cook your dinner). Watching the jungle birds from their deck was a true joy. They went out of their way to book us a guide for a day exploring the jungle - a shout out to Jose who was a brilliant tour guide to the jungle. He grew up in the village, was fantastically knowledgeable about animals, history and Costa Rican life. Speaking excellent English. He is also a great artist - get him to show you the furniture he makes. Dos Brazos is also worth a mention such a lovely little village, the residents there welcomed guests so warmly, everyone we met had a smile and hola. Try the homemade ice creams advertised from small house! Perfect treat after a hot walk. La Casita means little house, but this is a little house with a big heart thanks to Dario and Frederica’s love and attention to detail. Perfect in every way and I wish we could have stayed longer (forever!). grazie per la vostra accoglienza e ospitalità. è un piacere conoscervi entrambi.

We were concerned when we booked this as it is off grid, and we were unsure how we would cope staying there for 4 nights in the middle of nowhere. It was absolutely fine though and we would strongly recommend the place. When you arrive, you leave your car at the Rangers office and walk 10 mins to the accommodation. Val and Ron, who run the place, were so helpful with guiding us there and helping to carry bags. They were so friendly and interesting to talk to about their life there. The house is lovely, being very well equipped, clean, and comfortable. It is very private, not being overlooked and surrounded by a large garden. The place is off grid, but there is solar powered USB point for phones, and WiFi is accessible at the Rangers office. Ice was delivered every morning to use in the Pelican cooler, which worked so well to keep everything cool. You need to take all the food with you as there are no restaurants in the local area. The pool is big and lovely to cool down in. The wildlife is amazing, just be prepared to share the accommodation with some of it, there is a small colony of bats in one of the bedrooms, which are harmless and don't bother you and are fascinating to watch. The bird dawn chorus is one we will never forget, so many sounds, along with the magical fire flies at night. Can't list everything we saw, but highlights including the swallow tailed kites, white hawk following the squirrel monkeys along the river. We sat by the river for 3 hours early one morning and let the wildlife come to us. We saw so much! It is a wonderful place and an experience we will never forget and are so glad we did. If you like wildlife, this is the place for you.

Our stay at Amazonita was nothing short of magical. The amazing Zulay accommodated our vegan diet. Even though we had a language barrier (sorry our Spanish was so bad) she made sure with the translate app that she knew what foods to avoid!! She made three amazing home made Costa Rican vegan meals for us!! Including vegetables and fruits that we did not know existed. She also recommended an amazing hikes for us. Thank you so much Zulay. We especially loved Jose and his amazing service. He helped us with our bags on the climb up to our lodge and literally anything else we needed. We already miss joyful and kind spirit so much!! Thank Jose for the beautiful jewellery! (from Carly with the purple hair) If you want to really experience the Costa Rican Jungle & the unbelievable Costa Rican hospitality, stay here. Still dreaming about how wonderful everything was. A few FYIs - there is no wifi or service but there is a wifi hot spot 30 minutes into the Bolita hike from the lodge - the directions we got in English I think were a bad translation. Here are better ones: Coming from Puerto Jimenez, drive towards La Palma. After the Rio Tigre Bridge, take the first left. There are signs here pointing to the lodging options. Keep driving this bumpy dirt road for a while. Eventually you reach Gallardo. In Gallardo, you will see a sign on your right for Corcovado National Park. Turn left at the road opposite this sign. (there is a road before this one with a sign on the right that says "Gallardo 300m" - do not turn down this road) After the left turn, follow this road until it ends. You will see a big sign for Amazonita Lodge at the end of the road. Turn RIGHT. Keep following this road, past the bridge, all the way to the end. You cannot drive any further and you will be at Amazonita! Definitely recommend 4x4 vehicle but we made it just fine with our 2-wheel drive car.

Suzanna and Chani were amazing! They were both extremely welcoming and helpful! Staying at Los Mineros was my favourite part of my trip to Costa Rica. The guesthouse is surrounded by nature and you see all kinds of wildlife. It’s a perfect place to recharge. Chani is a great guide and showed me beautiful places in the jungle and numerous animals. I feel very fortunate to have found this guesthouse!

We stayed 4 nights at the end of june in el manantial and had a really good stay. The cabina has air-con, what was great, it is clean and had enough space for our little family. It is located  in the center of Dos Brazos near to the school, tourism office and a little shop (maybe you better should bring fresh veggies or fruits from Puerto Jimenez). We did some hikes in Bolita Rainforest and booked a night hiking with Kerley, we saw a lot of animals - we recommend both!

Really enjoyed being submerged in the deep jungle and enjoyed hiking all the trails. Fantastic forest bathing. Our favourite trail was the valley trail for views but to see wildlife you need to go deeper on Bonan (we saw monkey, toucan and butterflies). From the hostel you can sit and enjoy hummingbirds from your room or the social platform. Enough showers, toilets and kitchen facilities that you never have to queue Ron and some of the volunteers were nice Excellent value for money for the location and we enjoyed the magical stay overall

This is a great guesthouse in a fantastic location. Suzanna is a very helpful and knowledgeable host, happy to sit and chat with her guests. Chani is a brilliant local guide and it's well worth going out on one or more of his tours. There are many options to walk locally in the Golfo Dulce reserve, which is stunning. You will see lots of wildlife without straying too far from the guesthouse. Overall, we really enjoyed our 6 nights at Los Mineros and were sad to leave.
