The hotel had character and our room had a view of the river. The have a very reasonably priced package tour where you stay overnight in a cabin in the jungle after a full day of activities and canoeing down the river. We took it and the family loved it. The hotel is in a quiet part of town, but only a few blocks from the main plaza and the beach where all the monkeys play.

Hidden in the Amazonian Rainforest, Banana Lodge is a family-run B&B situated directly on the tropical Misahualli Riverside, a 10-minute walk from the town centre. It offers activity packed jungle tours and clean rooms with plenty of natural light. We really enjoyed our stay here! The gardens are super beautiful, and the owners are very nice and accommodating. The rooms are also clean and comfortable. I am very allergic to mosquito bites and, luckily, we had no issues at all sitting outside of our room at night.

The service is excellent and the staff is very friendly. The location is close to shops and restaurants. The owner lady Elizabeth is very friend and ready to help.

everything was just perfect. no words can describe this wonderful place. The food, the people, the location, the lodge everything was amazing!!! we even had a personal guide and he was the best. the tours inside the lodge are for free and they offer cooking classes. we loved our stay and it was one of the best trips we ever had! The rooms are very comfortable. Opt for one with a fireplace. They stoke and light the fireplace just before retiring for the night. The restaurant has excellent food options and beer +liquor is also available. Everything is reasonably priced. There are several pools, all with varying temperatures. The atmosphere at this hotel is perfect for a quiet getaway. The property offers secure parking, good wifi throughout, and good quality linens and towels.
Absolutely loved it here, it was fairly empty when I went and had the dorm to myself, it was a beautiful wooded cabin with lots of space the room was extremely comfortable, the pillow was my favourite, super comfortable unlike any other in Ecuador, haven't slept that well! All the staff and owners were extremely friendly. The common space was very nice and cozy.
Staying in Pakay makes you feel like you’re really in the middle of Amazonia, which is great. The cabin is really comfortable and with delicious breakfasts. Owners are super kind, willing to help you and offer extra services like doing laundry etc.
It is the best option for staying in Papallacta and enjoying the hot springs. Quality of service in this hotel is really something different and very much worth its price. If you have such possibility - book a room with a fireplace and order a bottle of wine for the evening :) One of the most memorable experiences we have had during our trip to Ecuador.
We really liked the wooden room and hammock area, great to relax at night. The hostel is not in the center of Tena, but that is actually a plus because it is a bit quieter and in a green area. Breakfast was good.
After 30 years of travelling all over Ecuador, I recently had the pleasure of discovering (thanks to Booking) and staying at Hostería El Paraiso de las Orquídeas in Archidona. It was the perfect place to share part of the Amazon Rainforest with a visiting friend. We enjoyed the location, the passing through monkeys, staff hospitality, the food, sitting by the river and the adorable cabins. Cannot wait to return with the family!
So far La Casa del Rio has been the most luxurious place I have been to in Ecuador. The owners have strived for perfection in the construction of this recently build resort. Beautifully designed cabins with perfect views and comfortable beds. Elisabeth and Jerry are so friendly..your satisfaction is everything to them. This mini resort has a swimming pool, a big covered patio dining place and a huge inside lounge with comfortable chairs and couches. Nothing else but sounds of the river and birds and crickets.
Adorable place, and the only place to stay in Papallacta for folks seeking a quality inn with high standards of accommodation and service. Cabins are so cozy, well appointed and right beside the private hot spring areas. We were there mid week with hardly any one else around so it was bliss. The weekends are usually heavily crowded. Lovely hiking trails and majestic views of ice-clad Antisana volcano when the clouds cleared.
