no meals but we had our own kitchen. It was like eating in a garden. The grounds were lovely , someone always rearanging the pots. Twinkling lights hanging from the trees at night. I did not want to leave.

For the active travellers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and self-catered, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found elsewhere in the world. Characterised by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing holidays.

Extremely helpful staff - my shuttle left me in the night on the wrong street and my phone died - the workers came for me on the scooter and safely transported me to the hostel. I also wanted to pay for the room, but had only dollars. They told me that I can pay the next day what I did. Always asked me if everything is okay and if I need anything more.

Really appreciated this hotel. It was clean, there was free potable water, location was close enough to everything but far enough that you avoided excessive street noise. The staff helped me arrange the shared shuttle bus from Antigua to Panajachel (which I paid 144 Quetzals per person). Wifi was strong and reliable. Bathroom was very small, but it served its purpose. Water pressure in the shower was strong, and appropriate temperature. No AC but there was a ceiling fan in the room, and the temp didn't require AC anyway.

The location is great, just in the center. Super close to the main square where shuttle busses drop you off. The room was nice, as well as the bathroom. The room was not too hot and I got a fan that was great.

We only stayed one night but Alvaro was a fantastic host, in communication via Whatsapp prior to the stay and made our arrival seamless. The place was gorgeous, calm, homely, and with a beautiful rooftop terrace and bonus pup! We had to leave early but they made sure coffee and breakfast was available for us. The room was basic but really comfortable, and all we needed. Would definitely stay again. Thanks so much! *Note to make sure to meet your shuttle outside by the basketball court, as they may not find Casa Ela to knock.

So much better than the photos! I was so pleasantly surprised with all elements of my stay; from the peaceful, spacious and relaxing common areas, the incredible warmth and helpfulness of the owner (who helped my friend book a shuttle to Guatemala city without her even staying at the hostel!), the comfortable rooms and clean, new facilities. Wifi was great, location was fantastic and I loved the little dog and turtle pets being around! I'd rebook this accommodation in a heartbeat.

The owners were amazing. They had excellent food recommendations and even phoned the shuttle company for us when it was half an hour late. The property itself is absolutely stunning!

This hostel needs more credit. Beautifully designed, super clean, cute cafe attached. Private terrace on top also. The bed cabins are perfect with your own curtain, a plug socket, lamp and a great size so you can sit up and not bang your head and very very comfy! The best part.. the staff. SO friendly, happy and forever a smile on their faces. Thank you thank you!! You guys are amazing, I hope to be back one day.

The location was excellent, very near Parque Central. The staff friendly and helpful and my room was in a separate building back off of the main reception and kitchen area. Very quiet and peaceful. Completely covered with vines and beautiful touches to the room with colourful pillows and traditional furniture and wooden shuttered windows. I also especially enjoyed sitting up on the rooftop which had a great view of the Agua Volcano. But there were several other lovely places to sit outdoors and a large indoor space with couches.
