Glansit Kyoto Kawaramachi, hotel in Otsu

Conveniently set in Kyoto, Glansit Kyoto Kawaramachi provides air-conditioned rooms, a shared lounge, free WiFi and a terrace.

This was possibly THE BEST Capsule Hotel I have ever stayed in, and I've stayed in a few. It's also worth paying the extra and getting one of the deluxe capsules, because you get a little sitting space beside the actual sleeping area.

TSUKIMI HOTEL, hotel in Otsu

Situated in Kyoto, less than 1 km from Gion Shijo Station, TSUKIMI HOTEL features air-conditioned accommodation and a terrace.

Fantastic stay - located in the heart of Gion near the Yasaka Pagoda, perfect if you want to see the city early morning without crowds. There is many convenient stores and restaurants close by, as well as buses and trains to travel throughout Kyoto and beyond. The staff were very friendly and helpful, with activities available and food reccomendations. Beautiful rooftop terrace and common areas, full kitchen and clean rooms/bathrooms. Because of the common areas it was easier than other hostels in Japan to meet people which is great for me as a solo traveller. Beds are comfortable and you receive free toiletries and clean towels every single day. Very good value for money and pleasant stay, would recommend.

Amenity Hotel Kyoto, hotel in Otsu

Amenity Hotel Kyoto offers affordable Japanese-style rooms and is situated around a 10-minute walk from Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Kodai-ji Temple.

The view from the fifth floor was amazing! There was almost nobody else at the hotel at the time of our visit. The location had a great access to some major tourist locations and public transport - bus and train.

Hostel Sui Kyoto, hotel in Otsu

In a prime location in Kyoto, Hostel Sui Kyoto provides air-conditioned rooms, a shared lounge, free WiFi and a terrace.

Hostel Sui is a lovely hostel situated in the suburbs of Kyoto. It is serviced by bus routes which can get you anywhere in the city near enough. The bunk was comfortable and had plenty of space, the place was spotless and the lounge was good for chilling out, cooking food and meeting others who were travelling. Masa, the host, is a star. He runs the place single handily and does a stellar job. He offered up a local ramen place which was excellent and made sure I could stay extra nights when a typhoon was forecast. Everyone was friendly enough when I stayed here and chatted in social spaces of the hostel. The upstairs shared area was quiet and everyone respected that which was great. Overall this place was a gem of a find in my opinion.

Developed in Japan, these cheap 'pod' hotels are a novelty for any traveller. With rows of small single bed enclosed capsules, accommodation is basic and intended to be overnight. Excellent ryokan stay near Lake Biwa! We had a private bath in our room which was lovely, and the room itself was spacious with a separate dining area which was very convenient. Provided toiletries were high quality and the ameneties bar was well-stocked. Staff were friendly and adept at using translation apps to speak with us as necessary. Whole area was quiet and overall a wonderful night spent.

We were met with friendly staff, who in no time completed our check in, and served us with a drink while we waited. We were then guided to our room with clear explanation of things we needed to know. The breakfast and dinner were really an eye-opening experience in the Japanese food culture. The private in room onsen was just superb.

The hotel staff assisted me to find back my AirPod lost in the room, and delivered to my Tokyo hotel. Truly appreciated . And thanks for the help. There’s free shuttle bus take you to nearby railway station, kind of convenient instead of by walking. The lake view is awesome!

I loved everything about Yumotokan. It was my 2nd time staying at their accomodation. Everyone is friendly, the staff were very professional and welcoming. They treat you very well, take care of you as if you were a king/queen. I really do appreciate all the staff there who made my 2nd visit welcoming & fun! The onsens were beautiful & relaxing. Food prepared by chef tasted so fresh & delicious. Rooms are huge & very japanese traditional style. I would definately come back in the future.

The staff were super friendly and helpful and the guy owning the cafe downstairs plays really nicely the piano. The kitchen is beautiful and has a relaxed atmosphere, and I especially liked the Sento (Japanese bathing house). Oh and of course, the beach is almost in front of the hostel!
