Looking for a capsule hotel?
Developed in Japan, these cheap 'pod' hotels are a novelty for any traveller. With rows of small single bed enclosed capsules, accommodation is basic and intended to be overnight. There is separate storage for luggage and gender-separate communal bathrooms — some capsule hotels also have a sentō, a Japanese bath house, often for male guests only.

I loved everything about this guesthouse! The staff were super friendly and approachable, the facilities were great and it was very clean and comfortable. I was especially happy to meet Kinako, a great dog. The bunk beds were comfortable, spacious and private as they were covered by a curtain. And the kitchen had good cooking facilities as well as a nice area to chat to other guests. Thank you!

Friendly staff. Onsen in the room had beautiful views. Able to reserve private family onsen. Traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast included. We walked to the accomodation from the station before we realised we could have contacted re shuttle service - but we got taken to the station on check out which was really appreciated!

Very friendly staff, spacious room, great onsen, sea view, good Japanese breakfast (not self-service). Reasonably close to the train station (we walked) and town shops/restaurants.

Beautiful well maintained property from the 1930s. Feels like you’re living in history but also at your Japanese relatives house. Staff are so warm and friendly - like genuinely not in the mandatory customer service kind of way. I left my adapter there and they promptly notified me and sent it to me without charge !

Authentic Japanese ryokan. Three onsens available for private use, just write your room name on the timesheet. Very friendly and helpful hosts and their staff made for a most enjoyable stay. We had breakfast each day and an exquisite dinner on our last evening. Not cheap but well worth it as a treat.

Spacious, japanese-style apartment. Calm and convenient. Excellent Kitchen-Supplys and very friendly staff. Also the possibility to use the hotel onsen was nice.

This modern Japanese hotel was a delight. Perched about 5 kilometres from the waterfront, it was quiet location with plenty of available parking. If you require lovely, spacious accommodation without the need for hot pools and hotel type amenities, this facility is perfect. We were greeted by a charming and friendly receptionist, who conveniently for us, spoke excellent English. Finally, this hotel was well-priced, with a tasty breakfast sandwich provided for early morning sustainance.

It's close to the train station, has its own onsen and the staff is very friendly. It is a no thrills capsule hotel but has everything you need.

Amazing location if arriving by train - barely a 2 minute walk. Magnificent onsen in the hotel. Staff super helpful and friendly, spoke good English. Breakfast was very good for the budget: some Western (cereal, toast, bread, yoghurt) as well as the usual Japanese options. The hotel itself seems very new, and everything is spotless.

Extraordinary beautiful view from the rooftoop with the pool and jacuzzi. Enjoyable public bath in the hotel, an excellent breakfast (Japanese or western style, even vegetarian option possible) and friendly staff. Good beds and a nice, convenient room.
