Looking for a capsule hotel?

Developed in Japan, these cheap 'pod' hotels are a novelty for any traveller. With rows of small single bed enclosed capsules, accommodation is basic and intended to be overnight. There is separate storage for luggage and gender-separate communal bathrooms — some capsule hotels also have a sentō, a Japanese bath house, often for male guests only.

The staffs are very friendly. The variety for breakfast is not much but enough (and most of them are organic!) The window shade works perfectly, it cuts off almost all of the sunlight. The room is spacing. Location is very convenient. The ocean side room has the view of Beppu Tower! Neat night view in the room. The facilities are pretty new and in good condition.

We slept for two nights in a private room/bathroom and it was definitely our most surprising stay during our trip in Japan. It's possible to book a private onsen for 500Yen which was worth it. Furthermore the staff is very friendly, breakfast is very Japanese but a nice experience, we slept well despite the mattresses were thin and our shower had warm water.

Authentic Japanese ryokan. Three onsens available for private use, just write your room name on the timesheet. Very friendly and helpful hosts and their staff made for a most enjoyable stay. We had breakfast each day and an exquisite dinner on our last evening. Not cheap but well worth it as a treat.

Spacious, japanese-style apartment. Calm and convenient. Excellent Kitchen-Supplys and very friendly staff. Also the possibility to use the hotel onsen was nice.

Location is nice in an older part of Beppu, about 15 minute walk to central station. The owners were very friendly. Public onsen just across the road the house is Japanese style, rooms and shared toilet upstairs and shared bathroom downstairs. Overall very authentic.

At walkable distance to the train station, close to Beppu tower. The staff was really friendly and explained everything in English. A large kitchen area and common room. The Japanese style room was spacious and the tatami mats seemed to be really new. A large fridge and hot water kettle in the room. Shower and toilet (with toilet brush, which is rather rare in Japanese hotels) were in separated rooms.

This modern Japanese hotel was a delight. Perched about 5 kilometres from the waterfront, it was quiet location with plenty of available parking. If you require lovely, spacious accommodation without the need for hot pools and hotel type amenities, this facility is perfect. We were greeted by a charming and friendly receptionist, who conveniently for us, spoke excellent English. Finally, this hotel was well-priced, with a tasty breakfast sandwich provided for early morning sustainance.

It's close to the train station, has its own onsen and the staff is very friendly. It is a no thrills capsule hotel but has everything you need.

Amazing location if arriving by train - barely a 2 minute walk. Magnificent onsen in the hotel. Staff super helpful and friendly, spoke good English. Breakfast was very good for the budget: some Western (cereal, toast, bread, yoghurt) as well as the usual Japanese options. The hotel itself seems very new, and everything is spotless.

Extraordinary beautiful view from the rooftoop with the pool and jacuzzi. Enjoyable public bath in the hotel, an excellent breakfast (Japanese or western style, even vegetarian option possible) and friendly staff. Good beds and a nice, convenient room.
