Russell
Boasting air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony, Stella the Excella is set in Russell. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. The campground has a hot tub and bicycle parking. Stella the Excella is a fabulous base in Russell. We loved the quirkiness of the trailer and all the retro facilities and colours - you really feel you're back in the 50s. The bed was very comfortable and the separate bathroom was more than adequate. The outside decking was spacious and a great place to sit back and relax and if you're lucky (as we were) spot kiwi in the garden below. The centre of Russell is about a 15/20 minute walk away though we were lazy and took the car as the trailer is situated at the top of a steep hill. We spent five weeks in NZ and Stella was definitely in the Top 3 of the places we stayed.

I remember this place ages ago - new owners done so much work here! We had a glamping tent booked, but due to bad weather conditions they gave us a free upgrade to Zen cabin. The cabin was so good, that we decided to spend some extra money and stay for one more night. You can also book a spa with ocean view and a barrel sauna for 45 minutes. Really an amazing place to relax. We can't wait to stay here again to watch the sunrise!
Campground facilities also look great. Walk distance to Dive Tatapouri.

Close to the beach and restaurants. Very clean and staff super helpful and friendly.
Stayed in the fake vw campers. Really cozy even when it's cold because of the electric blanket. Facilities close by and very clean. Proximity to the lake is great- lovely views in the morning.
Well equipped for a small space, lots of thought had gone in to providing all comforts. We enjoyed the location near the beach. Cafes and convenience store, and excellent bakery nearby. Thoughtful homemade produce left for us.
The Metrotel is a comfortable place to stay. Rooms are very clean and staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Shining Peak Brewery is nearby and highly recommended for tasty food, good beer and beer excellent service. Escape is a nice place to enjoy a coffee and sweet. Black beach is a must to visit for a stroll or picnic.
Our room had everything our family needed for a nice comfortable 1 night stay Because we checked in late the host gave us simple instructions to find our key and campgrounds map When I rang to confirm my booking the host was great The communication was fast and friendly The playground and trampoline area was great for the kids Very clean communal kitchen and showers toilets Tv room Beach is straight across the road Highly recommended this service
Location was great - we stayed in a cabin - very clean, easy walk to the beach. Campground as a whole was well looked after and staff were lovely.
Every little detail was considered to make our accommodation just perfect. It’s a very peaceful place, we had our wonderful barbecue in the evening even if it was raining. I loved the strawberries provided by the owner for our breakfast, a great choice of hot drinks and spreads. There was a heat pump so even if it was pretty cold outside we enjoyed a cozy warm environment inside. Due to the weather we couldn’t use the beach bag with towels and picnic blanket provided by the owner, but we appreciated that type of care.
Very clean and well looked after camp ground Just few metres from the beach - great location! Super helpful staff
I loved the chill and kick back atmosphere, we went camping at a separate camp ground a month prior and it was definitely a total different experience then what we had with you guys. Loved every bit of this campground definitely will be back 🥰
Quiet location, very clean & tidy campsite with everything you need. Staff were lovely, short walk to hot water beach
