We stayed in the cabana (which on bookings is the quadruple room). It was perfect. Away from main hotel, an attractive wooden chalet with a wrap around balcony. Folding doors open fully to the balcony from the front of the room with views down the valley. The sound of the river below was great as we watched the sunset. Room was very clean and if you need it, there’s a fridge, microwave and preparation area for food. We ate at the hotel, food was good. Hotel staff were all very lovely and helpful. Nothing too much bother. We were dropped by a lovely driver, Amila, who is based in Anuradhapura but prepared to travel. He was with us for 3 days between Wilpattu and the Riverbank. Highly recommend. He really looked after us and we saw lots we otherwise would have missed. He was a very safe driver, kind and respectful of our privacy. The living space and view is incredible. Room is spacious and equipped with everything you could need. Food is great. Host was kind, welcoming and generous. The washing machine was broken so he hand washed my laundry for me. Right on the Pekoe Trail so ideal for access to walking trails.

We arrived by bicycle after climbing 1200m. So we were exhausted! Straight away, we were shown to our room, where we could change out of our stinky clothes, and served hot tea. The view from bed was stunning - overlooking a lush valley with a thousand shades of green. Squirrels scuttled around the plants on the balcony, bringing into sharp focus how lucky we were to be living in nature. Our host prepared an authentic Sri Lanka meal from scratch, and we ooooohed and aaaahed all the way through. It was difficult to leave the comfort of the home the next morning, but we managed. Lovely friendly hosts. So warm and kind.
