Great Place to stay with a beautiful view and a nice, clean infinity pool with an amazing view of the surrounding landscape. The food was really good. The host was very friendly, attentive and went the extra mile to make our stay memorable. He showed us around his garden and cinnamon fields explaining about the different plants and harvesting techniques while letting us try fruits and spices. Generally the whole staff was very friendly, we really appreciated that!

The host was very friendly and helpful. He took us to a mine for 8000 Lkr without transportation because we had our own Tuktuk. The host tried to answer all of our questions about mining and he was very patient.
The bed was comfortable and in the family room there was a mosquito net over the big bed.

Wow! The Backyard Balangoda is something truly special. Nestled in the family’s beautiful tea plantation, it is a stunning retreat designed and created by talented young artist Sumit. From the architecture, through to the branding, and through the restaurant into the fabulous menu, everything has been carefully considered to give the visitor a completely unique Sri Lankan experience. The accommodation is in a rustic style, immaculately clean and-frame bungalow with the most stunning views over the valley - an absolutely magical experience to stay in and wake up to. While this is totally off the beaten tourist track, it’s so totally worth visiting - we were only sad we didn’t have time to stay a few more days. If it’s available, book it!
