The owner was very nice to me. He offered me free drining water and arranged it himself. Two times I got lost, I couldn't find my way to the guest house, since it's a bit further inside from the main road. He was very kind to come and pick me with his motorcycle. The room and toilet was newly built and clean. AC was working perfectly fine, although during night I didn't need it. The bed was comfortable and huge. He also provided me with cutleries when I needed. There's public transport available to Pollonaruwa 10 minutes walking distance from the place. Getting a Tuktuk might be a bit challenging.

The owner of the Lake Cabin was very nice. He arranged everything for our stay to our desire, from breakfast to dinner to activities. That made our stay very pleasant - we got everything we wanted out of our stay at Polonnaruwa!

The swimming pool is the best thing about this place as it's very well maintained. You can also order drinks or food and enjoy them poolside. Our bed was big and comfortable, we slept well. The owner is nice and helpful. Food was not outstanding but still good.

This is a real gem of a place and our 4 night stay here was a highlight of our trip so far. The hosts are some of the most welcoming, kind and generous people we have ever met, and we learnt so much from them about Sri Lanka, its flora and fauna, history and cuisine. If you’re looking for an authentic homestay in a beautiful green area, full of birds and other wildlife, you’ll love it here!
Our room was spacious and spotless, and the ceiling fan cooled us sufficiently at night. The host took us on night time walks to look for wildlife and also showed us around the village, including his family’s vegetable patch and rice fields. We also cooked a number of dishes with the hosts in their beautiful garden which was an experience we will never forget. It was like cooking with family members and we’ll definitely recreate the recipes and techniques we learnt once home. The hosts also arranged for us an amazing safari to Kaudulla National Park with an experienced driver who had vast knowledge of birds and other animals. They also rented us high quality bikes to explore the ancient city which is just around the corner.
The host’s wife is an incredible cook and every dinner time was a true feast. As vegetarians, we really appreciated the variety of vegetable curries, including some very unusual fruit ones! Each breakfast set us up really well for the day and, above all, all meals were healthy and made from high quality, fresh ingredients.

The location was fabulous infront of the lake.
All the staff were exceptional- particularly the young man at reception who welcomed us and looked after us really well…. and he was still in training. What a star!

location is wonderful by lake - plenty of places to sit around pool and in beautiful garden leading to lake views and on terrace by restaurant (choice of sun or shade everywhere) - staff super helpful and friendly especially pool attendant and restaurant manager - great for us, but sad for hotel, we were one of only two couples on second night in this 80 room hotel - bungalow room was very elegant with delightful open air bathroom (although nowhere to sit outside) - this would be a great time to visit!!!!!!
