The breakfast was delicious and the location was ideal for my needs, everywhere was spotlessly clean. Paul went out of his way to make breakfast a little earlier for me when I told him that I had to leave earlier than expected.

Lir Lodge, hotel in Collinstown

Situated just 18 km from Mullingar Arts Centre, Lir Lodge offers accommodation in Castlepollard with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as full-day security.

Lots to like about this B&B, including the price which is good value for a single traveller (unusually). The entire house is beautifully decorated and immaculately presented, and the rooms are all spacious. The house is in a really quiet location, ideal for people like me who demand a tranquil stay rather than the annoyance of noise… but it isn’t a long drive to Mullingar from here. This property is ideal for the traveller who likes to go self catering in the evening, as there is a full size well equipped kitchen with seating area. I got a good nights sleep, although I slept in the single bed because of the annoying green safety light above the double bed. A continental breakfast of cereal, yoghurt, bread for toast, and cellophane wrapped pastries is included in the price. The lady who runs this B&B seems pleasant and friendly, although one only sees her upon arrival - she replied quickly to my queries in the booking.

Very comfortable, excellent set up. I was passing through the area but it would make an excellent location to spend a few days exploring the area. The homemade blackcurrant jam was an unexpected treat that brought back childhood memories.

A very warm welcome by Catherine, who offered us a pot of tea with delicious home bakes. Delicious. We slept very well after an evening in Multyfarnham, which we really enjoyed. Breakfast was super and the best rashers we've had in years. The black and white pudding you have to see for yourselves....perfect.

The location was delightful, with lovely views from the property itself and good places to visit nearby. The host, Paul, could not have been kinder or more welcoming. He went above and beyond in promptly and cheerfully posting on a bag which my husband inadvertently left behind, which was extremely kind and much appreciated. The breakfast was generous and a great way to set us up on our onward journey. Very good value for money too. Can fully recommend.

Our stay at Highfield House was very pleasant. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the place was spotless. The breakfast was fresh and delicious (Irish breakfast, varieties of fresh fruits and cereals, ...). We felt very comfortable and the host recommended a great place for dinner. A great place for a quiet getaway.

The breakfast was lovely, the rooms were very clean and the bed was comfortable too. Paul was very friendly. The location was ideal for travelling to the Tullamore Show. We had a lovely evening in the local pub The Maypole. The craic was great and everyone was very welcoming and it was in walking distance from the bed and breakfast. Highly recommend Highfield house bed and breakfast.
