Beautiful environment, clean air outside the busy part of the city. Great owners who took care of us in every way, excellent kitchen and clean and comfortable accommodation. An oasis of peace and good mood. I recommend booking a 3-day jungle trek through them, it was the best experience of the entire stay. We saw a lot of animals in the wild thanks to the excellent guides and they also have a great cook :)

Batu Kapal is a magical place, surrounded by nature, away from the hustle and bustle of Bukit Lawang. The staff is wonderful, they made us feel like we were at home. They helped us with everything and shared laughter, music and card games with us. We felt like we took home not only the experience, but also having met good friends. Also around our room we were able to see Thomas leafs, different types of macaques (in fact one day they were on our balcony) and on the last day an orangutan! We also had the opportunity to do the 3-day trek, sleeping two nights in the jungle, which was another unforgettable experience and we would like to highlight our guide Jipur, who was great and informed us about the jungle and the species that inhabit it, and the cook Mr. Black, who despite being in the jungle, made us delicious and abundant meals. It has truly been an unforgettable experience and, although we know it is difficult, we would love to revisit this wonderful place and its people, Bagus, Jipur and the rest of the team.

The location is great, within walking distance of the shops and the river. Close to the jungle, you can see the monkeys playing in the jungle next to the resort. Brian and his team do everything to make you have the best experiance. They arranged transport from and to Medan for a good price. The food on site is excellent! And in the evening they even played live acoustic music, even when there were just 2 guests. The Jungletrek was also very well organised. They go the extra mile to make sure to spot the Orang Oetangs, we saw about 20 including the Alpha-male. No doubt 10/10! Would stay there again with pleasure.

Very personal. Got to know all of the staff and they were so helpful with organising activities, food and cars for us. Had the greatest time at this accommodation. Rooms were comfortable and the fan was a great touch on the hot days. I also loved the dog and cat on property, they were adorable!!

A recently renovated guest house set in Bukit Lawang, Charlys little House features a bar. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay.

I had a wonderful time at Charly and Jimmy's Homestay! They were incredibly kind and friendly, always making sure I had everything I needed. It felt like staying with family. They were available whenever I had questions or needed help. The room was small but cozy, and the balcony was amazing. It had a hammock and offered a beautiful view of the river and the jungle. Jimmy was so helpful, showing me the best spots to swim and even lending me a tube to float down the river. I highly recommend staying here if you want a relaxing and personal experience!

Everything was just perfect. We arrived here at midnight and everybody helped with the luggage und greeted us so nicely. The room is little but with the best view ever. You have a cute balcony with hammock where you can relax right "in the middle" of the jungle. The facilities are outside but always clean and if you need anything the staff is always there for you. The food is just amazing and you can always order something, drink cool drinks and have a good talk with the local staff. Last but not least we went into the jungle for 1 night/2 days and it was such a wonderful experience. The guide from the lodge will do everything that you see the animals you wanna see, you will get the most amazing local food ever from the cook on the campsite and all in all you will never forget this experience. We will definitely come back and if you are looking for a nice place to stay: come here :-)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sama Sama Homestay. Yakub & Ema were the perfect host's. The room was a good size, the mattress & pillow were both clean & comfortable. The shower wasn't powerful or hot but not many are in Indonesia especially at this price. We had a lovely balcony which we used everyday. Sama Sama homestay is at the main hub of the village & very close to the river. We did a jungle trek with Yakub & Irgi ( sorry for the spelling ) and it was fantastic. Both guides being very kind to us not being the fittest of people & not rushing us. Yakub had a great knowledge of the animals, jungle & Bukit Lawang & it was fascinating to listen to him. The food on the trek was very good & plentiful.
