The place was a stop over to Portsmouth so we needed somewhere to stay overnight. The area was quiet and met all our needs, with secure parking and you had the choice to bring and prepare dinner yourself or order some in, which we did thanks to some advice from the people who run Chambers Place. We had a small child with us and she had plenty to keep them occupied. Also, we had our dog with us and were warned that there was free roaming chickens etc so we did keep her on the lead. It was nice to be greeted by them in the morning.

This charming B&B is located in a quiet road within a 5 minute walk from the village centre and the railway station.
There was ample room to park. The host, Rose, was very welcoming to her home and a delight to chat with.
Rose was extremely accommodating, letting my son join me for breakfast.
Now when it comes to breakfasts, this exceeded my expectations, absolutely delicious.
I would highly recommend Melrose Cottage to anyone visiting this lovely area.
I will be returning.

Every little detail had been thought of. Everything was spotless and clean. Loved the breakfast parcel and little biscuits for the morning. Kate was very sweet and accommodated our needs around arrival.

The host was very kind, patient and helpful -we had some trouble arriving and she came out in the cold to help us find the place.
The place is absolutely beautiful, we wish we could have stayed for longer and explored the countryside and enjoyed the amazing pool. The decor was lovely, great books selection, and a well-equipped kitchen. We'd love to come back and really make the most of it.

Such a wonderful stay, the house is beautiful, it was ideal as a base for a weekend. It was spotless and the beds are pristine, crisp white and ohhhh so comfortable. Karen is very lovely and went out of her way to look after us. Loved the fact we could make our own breakfast and chill inside or outside in the stunning garden. Fabulous stay, we would definitely recommend it.
This is how B&B should be. Quirky farmhouse with clean, tidy and comfy bedroom. Nice help yourself continental breakfast where everyone mixed in the kitchen/dining room. Location is ideal for a walk or seeing the surrounding area. Friendly host and staff/family.
