This was a very convenient and comfortable spot to break our trip between Cornwall and Kent. The flat was thoughtfully decorated and furnished, and there were little surprise extras like fresh bread.

The Carriage House, hotel in Downton

The Carriage House, a property with a garden, is situated in Salisbury, 5.9 km from Salisbury Train Station, 7.8 km from Old Sarum, as well as 11 km from Salisbury Racecourse.

Based on the online reviews and photos we knew that the interior was going to be of a very high standard and we were not disappointed - the living space worked particularly well. What we hadn't quite realised was that the property is set in such an amazing location, with fantastic views over the river valley and wide open spaces to roam and enjoy. We were visiting a nonagenarian relative during our 2 day stay - we would have happily stayed on for longer were it not for my granddaughter having to return home for the new school term...

Ideal location for a wedding which was about a mile away! Staff all really friendly and allowed me a slightly earlier check in. The pub is nice and the room was actually very large and nice and warm. It was slightly noisy at night but this didn't bother me (after having quite a few drinks at the wedding). The room was clean but a little tired, but you are not staying at a 5 star hotel! Bed was comfy and clean. The only annoying thing was the toilet seat wouldn't stay up but in general I was happy and would stay again.
