We arrived in driving rain from the Caen ferry and were delighted to be welcomed by our host Angela (also known as Sue) who made sure we had everything we needed for a relaxing stay including warm rooms and a generous welcome basket of goodies to settle us in. She is the perfect host - there if you need anything, but not intrusive. Nothing is too much trouble. The gite is as it appears in the photos with a downstairs well equipped kitchen and upstairs a cosy bedroom, sitting room and shower room. Everything was spotlessly clean, the bed was extremely comfortable with excellent quality linens and there was a plentiful supply of hot water for the shower. The WiFi signal is excellent. The provision of upstairs and downstairs kettles and mugs was greatly appreciated, for that all important early morning cup of tea! The outside seating area was a great place to enjoy breakfast when the sun came out for us.
We stayed for 10 days and found it a great place to relax and really unwind. There are excellent walks locally and some lovely towns and villages in under an hour's drive. The famous attractions (Mont St Michel, D-day landing beaches etc) are within about a 90 min drive. The local is very rural and the only noises at night are natural ones. We really couldn't have asked for anything more. We would love to come back.
The gite is about 5 min by car from the nearest village for the basics and about 15 min from St Hilaire for the full range of supermarkets, shops, some excellent restaurants (try L'Ardoise opposite the church), a Wednesday market and a tourist office.

We had the loveliest stay at Les Freuberts. We had had a very long and tiring journey to get there and the beauty and tranquility of the house and its location was just lovely. The beds were incredibly comfortable and we all slept so well; feeling refreshed the next morning!
We were offered drinks outside before heading off for a lovely meal (which was booked for us!) In the local town.
Fantastic hosts, the comfiest of beds and just a lovely place to rest. Highly recommended!
