The accommodation was a terrific positive surprise. It was clean, beautifully decorated, not too much, but very soothing, and most important, very spacious.
In addition, Blondine was a wonderful host, always friendly, and always there to ensure our comfort and to advise on the locality.
This is one of the best Chambre d’hote we have stayed in. A beautiful farm setting, yet within easy reach of commercial facilities.
We were keen to cycle the area, and in particular, the Canal de Borgogna was a fantastic ride, free from road traffic.

Lovely and charming home, with a single room for guests to book. A nice terrace to eat supper and breakfast and great views. The host, Laurent, is so friendly and helpful. They have cats and a dog which made the stay even more enjoyable. I would love to go back if I’m passing through. At supper time a neighbour brought truffles he had foraged with his dog; it felt superbly French!

This is the second bed and breakfast I’ve been to in France and I had a wonderful experience. The hosts are extremely helpful and considerate. I had chosen this location because it was near the station and the area where I was doing research. The hosts gladly drove me back to the station when it was time to leave—and would have been willing to pick me up at the station the day I arrived. It’s only about 20 minutes on foot, but with the gravel sidewalks, bridges, and heavy suitcases, I wish I could’ve taken them up on that offer. They even helped me with shopping for groceries and work related items and with food prep during the week. The house is located off the main road but I found it rather quiet. The outdoor spaces—garden and seating areas—were lovely. The weather wasn’t the best, otherwise I would’ve been outside more. The bathroom was located outside of the bedroom, but my hosts—probably the most considerate people I’ve ever met—blocked off the booking for the other rooms in that area so I had the floor to myself. The breakfast was light but plentiful, complete with homemade jams. (Try the fig jam!) I’m going to have to come back to Laumes-Alesia to finish work and I already know where I’ll be staying!

The apartment was excellent and exceeded all our expectations. The beds are super comfortable, the shower was spacious and very well designed. Kitchen has everything that we needed. We did not use the jacuzzi, but I am sure this is also very good. The host was very friendly and helpful.

The property was in excellent condition and very comfortable. We never met our hosts, but the system for retrieving the key worked perfectly. The property was located near some excellent restaurants and the fascinating MuséoParc Alésia where Julius Caesar defeated the Gallic warrior Vercingetorix.
For those on a budget, these cheap and cheerful hotels still have a lot to offer, with most offering WiFi and convenient locations. Popular with backpackers, many properties can be found in central locations and include comfortable rooms with private or shared bathrooms. You’ll also find a number of options which feature a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage.

We were lucky on check in (which is remote via email/key safe) that the owner's mother was on site as our room was not ready for us. However this was immediately rectified and our accommodation upgraded. La Maison George has a fascinating location in the very centre of the beautiful (and pedestrianised) village. It was such a treat to walk around in the late evening / morning without anyone else around, and so peaceful.
Central location in beautiful, delightful village. Dog friendly. Public parking 100m away. Lovely light, spacious apartment, quite well equipped. Comfy bed, well appointed kitchen and nice shower.
Will definitely return to explore beautiful countryside.
