This is one of the most breathtaking locations I’ve ever stayed in. Atop a hill, surrounded by mountains of lush green, we were part of a tiny tranquil village. I felt a sense of peace and well-being during our stay. It was rustic, authentic and gorgeous. It felt like stepping through a portal to a simpler, slower paced time. Wonderful.

We appreciate the kindness of the staff: they were able to make us feel like at home (but in a super-wonderful room in an ancient tower, completely restored). The breakfast was perfect too, with an excellent quality-price ratio (and a selection of local foods). They suggested also an alternative itinerary to discover the Region and unusual spots not listed in the "standard" wishlist of the most hurried tours.

South Korea
Our host was very helpful and personable even though she only spoke Spanish and we do not. Room was basic but comfortable. One of our first good nights sleep on the Camino. Shared bathroom was only for a few people so we had no problem using the facilities. There are only a few small cafes in town and dinner was not offered by the host so we cooked for ourselves. The kitchen was well equipped and we were excited to have our own coffee pot in the morning. It was very much like being a guest in someone’s home in an idyllic country village.

The breakfast was fruit, toast, jam, butter, meat or cheese and coffee served by the lovely Christina. (Christina's assistant was equally kind. and helpful.) The Posada itself was sparkling clean, bright, modern and spacious. We were in a twin room on the 3rd floor overlooking the Camino path through Viskarret (it has another couple of names) so we could see the pilgrims walking. Beside our room was a comfortable lounge with a balcony. The ensuite in our room had a large bathtub with plentifull hot water and the water so soft that with long hair, conditioner was not needed. Simple foods-bocadillas, omelettes (tortillas), salads were available and inexpensive at the bar around the corner but only open until early afternoon. It's important to be aware that after the bar closes there is no food available in the village. We were prepared and brought bread, cheese and fruit with us for an evening meal.
Viscarret-Guerendiáin (Near Saragüeta)
