After completing the form for online check-in we received the access code as promised. We had the luck to be upgraded. When I crossed the housekeeper on ckeck-out she greeted me with a typical german Gutenmorgen! We talked a little about the room we received. The suite was very clean and well equipped. The hotel used to be an appartment building that has recently been converted. Idealy located to go to Düsseldorf Airport when dropping of friends early in the morning and close to the city center for a restaurant visit the night before! Will be back there when needed.

It's very close to shops where you can pick few things and cook by yourself at the apartment in the hotel. I booked for 1 room and 1 apartment for my kids and we really had a good time staying at Hotel Barbarossa. I use the hotel again when next I am in Düsseldorf or around Ratingen.
