I was in the area to visit the Buzludzha Monument, and this hotel is right at the top of Shipka Pass, which means it was right at the start of one of the two roads up to the monument. I was there between seasons, and the proprietor basically opened up just for me, had a nice room waiting with a heater, and made me a lovely bowl of soup. Looks like this place would be super fun during trekking season, with a bar restaurant and game room, huge wood burning stove and pool table. Great off the beaten track experience, would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The location is superb- within walking distance of the city center and the parking is still free. The area has tons of nice places to go out and playgrounds for kids to visit. The apartment is absolutely beautiful, it is very well furnished so it's perfect for also longer stays. The owner is very caring and checks on regular basis if he can help with anything further. We couldn't have asked for a better accommodation in Gabrovo.
