They were welcoming despite having limited English, and the Translate app worked well for everything we needed to communicate. The food was simple but healthy and delicious and I really appreciated being welcomed to their family table to eat with them. The bed is hard but I found it comfortable regardless, and the animals will wake you up naturally. I did the trekking and motorbiking tours and the scenery is beautiful. If you’re looking for a genuine Northern Vietnamese experience, this is it!

Our was a traditional building but it had been lined with glass to keep the temperature and cut down on the city noise.

The property is nestled in beautiful bucolic surroundings where people are friendly and we’re always greeting me with a smile and wave from my motorbike. The hosts were gracious and ambitious with delicious food, free-flowing rice liquor, engaging conversation and even entertainment. I was not a great guest (too much rice liquor and bia!) and yet everyone was gracious and welcoming. Beautiful place and beautiful people. So happy I stayed.
