This was a lovely freestanding house in an agricultural area just 5 minutes from the beautiful town on Vadstena. The house had a well-equipped kitchen and was very comfortable for families with kids with multiple bunk beds. There are many good restaurants in the area. You can bring your own linens and towels or rent them for $10 or 100 swedish kroner per guest. You can clean the place yourself (easy) or pay a cleaning fee. It is extremely quiet and peaceful and the owner lives just down the road and is very helpful.

We stayed in the small castle villa right next to the Vadstena castle and absolutely loved it. Really unique hotel, fantastic historic buildings and great meals.
There was a breakfast room in our building, where we could bring our food and eat there. We liked the simplicity of the rooms (single beds) a bathroom, and magical views of the lake. The nearby village was delightful and there was parking for our car across the road from our room.
Breakfast Buffet was amazing. Full points for that, even lactose free and glutine free stuff available. The hotel is a good start for hiking and water sports. Unfortuantely, the weather wasn't that good, so we could not do too much and after 2 days all the sight seeings nearby have been done.
We had a Louis XIV room in a separate villa outside of the hotel, which was overwhelming but partly also scary when we were the only guests. We had a feeling of "Shining" sometimes in the night.
Absolutely beautiful and spacious villa, super clean, so beautifully decorated, very well equipped, very comfortable beds, very well located near Vadstena village. Loved it!
