Located on a rural side street in the village of Calistini in Maramures, this beautiful traditional building has been renovated inside to be modern with traditional decorations. The property provides an authentic look at how people live. The grandparents in traditional dress take care of the property while the host Gheorge comes back from work as the school accountant to show his guests around. He took us through his neighbors' yards to demonstrate the ancient river "washing machine," a wooden vat with the clothes agitated by dammed river water. The grandmother showed me around the yard.

We had a great staying experience at this clean, modern, quiet location managed by warm, welcoming owners Petru and Voichita. The hotel has everything to make your stay comfortable and joyful including an equipped kitchen (free coffee and tea), hot tub and a roomy deck where you can enjoy the home made flavoured moonshine (which is being offered for free!). The dinner and breakfast (pay is extra) we had at the hotel were amazing with generous portions and very tasty. The location was perfect as a base to visit places of interest in the area.

The environment, people included. There is a great Maramures door, and the rooms are all different. I didn't give the greatest rate for the room, because the room I wanted was already given. But if you want to feel the Romanian soul, this is the place to come. And 10 minutes driving from Barsana doesn't count much as you don't have to look for a restaurant as everything is available indoors. This is the place to stay longer and pay visits from here.

Lebanon
We stayed 2 nights during our roadtrip through Romania. The typical two stories house lies in the middle of a green field, mountains in the background. We were welcomed by Anna as if we were old friends, offered us coffee and cold water and showed us our room. Spacious, king size bed, the bathroom net and clean, and a 20 m2 privative terrace where you can watch the sunrise behind the mountains. The breakfast was exclusively home made and very, very generous. We couldn’t have picked a better place for our stay.
