Can you imagine the difference between the stressful life of a city and suddenly total peace and personal reunion? that's what this place is all about, so good, you won't want to go home. My friend loved the dessert and the massage they made for us and I loved that sangria you made for us, spectacular moments. Everyone needs to try this! The best in life is in the smallest and simplest things. Sometimes all it takes is looking up at the sky and taking a deep breath. That's what this place is all about: staying connected with yourself and everything else. Thank you :)

We loved everything about the place and the surrounding. What a peaceful oase! We looked for a place between Lissabon and Porto where we can experience the Douro Valley for a few days and this place met all our wishes and expectations. You DO need a car though.
We’ve been welcomed by a lovely owner Emanuele which owns also a bakery close by. That’s where the warm bread each morning for breakfast came from. And…they make the most delicious Pastel de Nata! If you look for a peaceful place, look no further.
A good location for a relaxing holiday in Bilhó, Casa da Avó Ana Alvão is a holiday home surrounded by views of the garden.

This property is a little gem! It is beautifully constructed from the local stone and has lots of character features, eg, beams, shutters and window seats in the main bedroom. Yet, it also has the benefits of modern life with excellent wi-fi, powerful shower and a dishwasher. The kitchen is really well stocked with dishes and utensils. The house was immaculately clean. The outside area is small but has been laid out really well to take advantage of the space; it has a BBQ with a stone table and wooden stools. There is also a bench and two sun loungers. The owner was incredibly friendly. He drove to meet us, and showed us where the house was. He very helpfully showed us local features on a map. He even drove us in his car to show us where the nearest shop is and where people swim in a river.

Location was perfect for us. It was out of town and quiet, with Vila Real a 10 minute drive away. Nothing was too much effort for Paulo. He provided complimentary drinks and snacks on our arrival. He was charming and helpful. On our departure date he insisted we made lunch from the produce at breakfast. I’m very glad we did.
Set in a 1750’s rural building, this Vilar guest house features a large pool surrounded by landscaped gardens. Housed in the old barn, its wooden-fitted cellar offers regional wines.
