I think this is the perfect place to stay and travel around the central part of Portugal, visiting small towns and castles. I am talking about Penedono, Meda, Trancoso, Pinchel, Almeida and many other places of interest. This place, Casas do Juizo, is very clean and well maintained. The room is modern in within "medieval" walls and has everything you need for living and cooking. The host, Monica, is very nice and friendly, she speaks very good English and we had no problems communicating. Was offered a very tasty welcome drink and some Easter bread and cheese during our stay, this was Easter time. The village itself is a very calm and quiet place to relax. I would like to recommend Casas do Juizo for all local travelers and foreigners traveling in Portugal.

The host was very helpful and friendly and, as a local nature guide, advised us of the best local nature walks. We joined one of his tours to view the rock art, which was fascinating. The village was charming and authentic . Beautifully restored house that was perfect for our needs. The bed was very comfortable and the bed linen was luxurious! We will be back...

An unexpected find, and our favorite stay in Portugal, where we traveled 800 miles around the north and east of the country. Marisa is an amazing hostess, exceptionally generous -- she greeted us with warm muffins, gave us a tour of her cheesemaking facilities and museum, served us an unbelievably delicious breakfast with food she had grown and prepared herself. The guesthouse is spotless, equipped with everything you can imagine down to towel warmers, and very comfortable. And the time we spent talking with her was the highlight of our trip; it gave us some insight into life in a small rural Portuguese hamlet. Highly recommend!!
