This was a perfect holiday location. The grounds are outstanding, including the pool & lawn area. You are staying in a 1000 year + location. Gardens are perfectly maintained. The property itself was excellent: three separate bedrooms & well equipped. Hugo was an excellent host. We received fresh bread every morning & glasses of cold port every evening. The location is just on the outskirts of Guimarães - about 20 minute walk. Lots of small cafes & restaurants close by. We found using Bolt was the easiest way to get around. We were really sad to leave = always a sign of a brilliant holiday location.

Small but pretty and cozy apartment near the town center of Guimaraes. There’s a huge free parking a few meters from the apartment, and it’s ten minutes from the town center and twenty from the castle on foot. The apartment is very well equipped, with a good sized kitchen and even a dish washing machine. We got an apartment which faced the inner courtyard, so it was also overly quiet (by the way, the structure’s road is a secondary one, so there is no traffic at all).

The rooms, the house, the garden, everything is done with such attention to detail. The house is surrounded by nature, so it is just perfect for a relaxing stay. Our room had a nice terrace, where you can spend your time, but the area has so many nice corners to discover, you can go to the pool or use one of the hammocks.
When we arrived, we got a warming welcome from the owner, he showed us around and explained everything. We even got a small welcoming gift!
The breakfast was also very tasty, everything you can whish for, from very good coffee to freshly made eggs.
If we ever come back to this area, we would stay again at this beautiful place. Thank you for everything!

The host and his family are exceptionally warm and inviting. Their family estate, which houses the accommodations is exquisite - beautiful gardens, rustic, yet modern accommodations, a sparkling pool and just excellent hospitality in a UNESCO World Heritage city. Hugo - who works with Jose, the owner of Villa Margaridi, is a GEM! He is always available to assist in anyway and is just as warm and pleasant as his employers. We cannot wait to come back to this amazing oasis in Portugal.

Loved having breakfast in our private terrasse. Jose welcomed us with an insightful tour of the historical garden and shared with us his story. The host are fantastic. We were met and shown to our villa. Breakfast (which we had not expected) was delivered each morning. Each evening we were given a carafe of port wine and some nibbles which again we had not expected. The gardens are lovely.
