The camping-site is a great place elevated 10m above sealevel with direct access to the fjord. Some of the rooms/ cabins/ huts have direct view onto the sea. The camping-site is situated inmidst of old fruit trees and bushes. The camping-site lies very close to the ferry allowing access to the near isles. From it there can be made various hikes and trips only by foot or by bike to the exciting landscape surrounding the small village Hjelmeland. Hjelmeland itself offers two supermarkets and a friendly tourist-information in the library nearby. Hjelmeland can be reached without car by bus (1,5h trip) from Stavanger. We enjoyed our 9-day stay at Hjelmeland very much, because there are plenty of opportunities in the surrounding landscape for hikers and cyclers as well. We enjoyed the mixture of activity and relaxation without moving every day to another site very much. Besides it was very relaxing to stay with our nearly grown up sons in different rooms, allowing autonomy and independence from their parents. So, Hjelmeland is an ideal starting point for hikers and cyclers and for families who want to explore the exciting landscape of Ryfylke. The team running the camping site, especially Jaroslaw is extremely friendly and helpful organising the stay in Hjelmeland!

This 2 floor apartment is huge with the most incredibly beautiful view! We were warmly greeted by Patricia and her husband with a plate of smoked salmon which was delicious. There is a two person jet tub in the bathroom we hope to have time to try out on our next visit in 2 weeks. The radiant heat in the floors kept the temperature perfectly warm. Right outside there is a very large private deck with comfortable table and chairs to enjoy your coffee with mountains, water and the quaint village below.
