We stayed in a bungalow overlooking the pretty garden.
it was very clean with powerful fan and comfy beds.
we had a few issues with the bathroom but these were quickly sorted following our feedback.
it was a bit noisy as there are some building works going on.
it was lovely to have breakfast at the restaurant overlooking the river!
we arranged an afternoon tubing through our host and it was brilliant and very good value!

Muang ngoy is a very authentic village. The owners said some spots to visit and we had lunch at their family restaurant and it was tasty. We were picked at the pier, like every other guest house does there. The views from the balcony its the crown jewel of this place! The hammock also its great.

We investigated other hostels and this certainly is the best, if you need air conditioning, a private bathroom and an amazing view of the river/mountains then look no further.

We loved spending a few days at SuanPhao Guesthouse. The host is extremely nice and welcoming, helping you arrange anything you want to do. We booked a day trip to Sopcham village with his help. Breakfast is great and the location of the guesthouse is perfect, at the end of the village but still close to all the points of interest. The bungalows are charming and comfy.
We had a great stay at Ning Ning. It's a beautiful location with spectacular views from the open air restaurant. Right off the main road so easy for restaurants and village life. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. Staff are friendly. They organised our boat transfer from/to Nong Khiaw. Jay from J-Walk Tours came to see us on arrival and we did all of our activities (hikes, boat trips, kayaking etc) through him - highly recommend as well.
This rustic bungalow is the perfect location to really unwind, relax and enjoy the tranquility and exquisite beauty of the Nam Ou river, as it gently flows past the charming little village of Muang Ngoy ❤️

If you want to have a great experience outside Muong Ngoy (a place to goafter this lovely guesthouse Suan Phao)…. Ask Mr Joy to arrange to stay with mr Kee in Huay Bo village. Really a great experience for a night. You can walk to the village or Mr Kee can pick you up! A must go!
After that: returning to Suan Phao is so great!
Really big, comfortabel room. Great service from the hotel staff and manager. Amazing secluded location overlooking the mountains, about 1.4km from the city centre. Usually they have free boat transport to the city center, but the boat was in maintenance during the low season so they offered free transport by car.
The owner helped us with booking transit back and helped us out when both ATMs in the village quit.
Overall great hotel, would definitely stay here again.
Awesome new resort. So quiet with amazing views over the river and mountains. Its 2 KM from the village but the team takes you by car anytime so
