The hotel has an amazing level of calmness and it was very easy to relax in the lounge areas and cafe. The staff were very kind and helpful and there were no TVs or random screens blaring useless noise anywhere in the public spaces. I was able to read a lot of great books snuggled up in swinging chairs, hammocks and on sofas. The free coffee and herb water (after 10 or 11am) was a great treat. The lounge wear provided was super comfortable so I bought myself a set. The gelato at the cafe was great, but get it fresh, not in a frozen takeaway cup. The cafe also had a great assortment of food which was brought out by a cute robot that tried to serve it to the big teddy bear seated at my table.

There is an amazing supermarket close by so you don't need to cook but there are also good supplies for cooking your own meal. TIP 1: To lock the door, pull the rear panel towards you so the lock can engage. TIP 2: To get the fire going 1. Add pellets in the back compartment 2. Click the black button which is below a white cylinder (it'll compress the cylinder) 3. Light a pelletman firestarter (found in the brown box) and place it in the front area (just behind the glass) 4. Turn on the machine (it will blow air to keep the flame ignored)

Lovely old fashioned Ryokan. Traditional style rooms and public areas. The staff were great and went out of their way to communicate in English, but also respected our Japanese speaking son. The onsens were an unusual and interesting experience. The dinner and breakfast were the highlights of our stay. The food was superb and presented in a stunning way, including a personalised menu card.
