We had a fantastic time staying at this B&B! Our host (Keiji-san) was exceptionally obliging, spoke good English, helped us a lot with transport (drop offs to and pick ups from Nagano center) and through recommendations of things to see and do. As a result, we got to sample some 100% off the beaten track and authentically Japanese experiences, such as a local summer festival, and avoid the tourist traps. The accommodation itself was wonderfully set in a nice garden which we could access directly from our room. Rooms were large and spotless, and the breakfast (freshly cooked each morning) delicious! Definitely recommended and would go again:-)

Amazing food even though some of the textures were alien to us. The staff was always very nice and helpful. We loved the fact that we could go to the onsen together any time without extra payment.

A very traditional ryokan - a unique, authentic experience. Very friendly staff and excellent food. Service excellent, a real art of plate decoration. Onsen was pleasant, not crowded. The water is about 41 degrees. A must visit in Japan!

The couple running the Ryokan is absolutely cute, forthcoming and accommodating, providing a shuttle to/from the station and to the monkey forest, and they tried their best at speaking english. The room was spacious, traditional with Yukatas and the Ryokan provided a female, male and private bath, as well as tea, coffee and a map to find around. The town Yudanaka is small and lovely with an amazing sunset. Overall loved the old, traditional vibe.

The location was good for us as we wanted to stay in an onsen town. The owners are absolutely wonderful. We were very kindly given a lift to the monkey park and to a lovely spot to take some pictures and were really looked after during our stay. We had one Japanese style dinner and breakfast during our two night stay. It was delicious with real attention to detail and was beautifully presented. All the staff were lovely and warm. You are given a 'master' key to the nine different onsens in town to use at your leisure (during opening hours)
