Cute family run bed and breakfast. The mother and son duo (I believe) are professional and so caring. I ordered their Tochigi wagyu steak for dinner and it was one of the best meals I had in Japan. Incredible marbling of the steak and the complimenting dishes were amazing. The breakfast was also amazing and they even gave me a snack pack before I left. Amazing hospitable hosts that I would recommend for anyone. There are two private onsens available 24/7 on site too. Tobu bus stop right across the street for easy access.

Izumi-san was the best host! He took as from and to the train station, recommended local things to try and was very considerate! He even shipped an item I forgot to our next destination. The place was great too, offering very authentic experience, as well as a private room with tatami and futon beds and authentic japanese style breakfast (American breakfast is also an option, but we wanted the authentic experience). The view from the B&B is also great! Highly recommended location!

Koundo Guest House is a beautiful 2-store traditional style japanese house located in a lovely neighborhood nearby many touristic spots in Nikko. The manager - a kind and discrete old japanese man who sleeps in a room downstairs - receptioned us with soft drinks and showed us the house facilities and a map of the neighborhood. We loved the whole experience and we certainly want to come back one day.

Loved this stay! The location is lovely down by the river and not far from bus stops. The staff are really kind. Rooms and beds were clean and very comfortable, and we loved having an onsen bath on site! Definitely recommend.
