A perfect guest house. The owner was very friendly. The guest house was spotless and very well designed. Everything was made of high quality materials. A lot of attention has been paid to detail, such as ear buds put in a small jar next to the pillow. The bunks were extremely sturdy and comfortable. They had many power outlets. The living area was cery comfortable. The shower was super-clean, with Imabari towels! I could park my bicycle overnight in a locked garage next door (it had a key code to open and close the shutter)

Loved everything about this place! Firstly, it’s a lovely older Japanese house that’s kept its old charm but has a modern and fully stocked kitchen. The owners, Ray and Akira, speak English and are the kindest souls.
There’s sliding screens with modern anime style prints, a Harry Potter chess set and other sweet little quirks.
But the best pet is walking up to see the sea and mountains covered in mist.

The accommodation and the host are exceptional. The accommodation is a traditional and lovely renovated Japanese house in the small village of Ocho. It has a spacious shared living room. The sleeping rooms are Japanese style with Tatami and Futon.
We stayed two nights, and the host prepared breakfast and dinner for us which was both very good. The second night we had Okonomiyaki for dinner and ate together with the host. [Note: Dinner is not always available and must be reserved in advanced. There is also a spacious kitchen which we, however, didn't use.] The host is very friendly and takes time for a chat.
Although the village is remote it is more than worth a visit. It can frequently be reached by bus from Hiro station which we took at the day of arrival, or by ferry which we took at the day of departure. To get around the islands you can rent brand new electric bicycles at the accommodation. The old town of Mitarai can even be reached on foot within 15min.
The village and the islands in general are very quiet. If you don't come with your own car, it's recommended to plan a bit in advance. There is a supermarket in the village. And you can find some restaurants in the old town of Mitarai. However, most do only open on weekends and holidays.
