The guy on reception was very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size, with modern decor, a comfortable bed, and lovely fresh white sheets. Although a little loud, the air con unit worked well. It was nice to have a water dispenser in the corridor, but it's a shame there's no chilled water option.
Facing the seafront in Bunaken, Sunset Guest House & Bar has a private beach area and a bar. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay.

Fantastic 5-night stay with Dion and his family, in almost-beachfront property within main Bunaken village. The rooms are spacious, air-conditioned, with private bathroom and a small sitting area with chair(s) and clothes drying rack, just outside my room, all within access to wifi internet. The beach, which is 25m away, is kept quite clean and a great place to unwind after the dives or before dinner. Three delicious meals are served at set times each day, the menu including rice/noodle, vegetables, and a protein meat/fish dish ... every day slightly different. Great setup to meet the other guests and get to know Dion and his family. I organized 8 dives with Dion's affiliated Blue Shark Diving shop, and each outing was very special. And lastly, Dion himself was very helpful in organizing the next leg of my journey ... he helped book reliable, clean private cars, and tours for my next trajectory to the Togean Islands. In summary, a very memorable stay. Thank you!

We had a great stay with Naca and his husband.
They help us with everything, we arrive to Manado the independence day of Indonesia and there wasn't boats to Bunaken. We contact them and they get a private boat for us(not expensive).
When we arrive to the island she was waiting for us on the pier.
The room is a really cute and clean bungalow 1min walking from the sea.
Get the pack of food with her, it's 150k per person, 3 meals and each meal with 3-4 different dishes. We try other places and the food wasn't even close to the food that she prepare( proper Indonesian food, not for tourist).

This is so far and by far the best accomodation we have had in our one-month trip in Indonesia. The location is beautiful, the premises hyper clean, spacious and comfy, everything taken care of to the smallest detail, the wide choice of breakfast was gorgeous... And Jan, our host...there are no words to describe his helpfulness, amicability, and readiness to make our stay unforgettable. He gave us lots of practical information on the area and activities and made our stay very easy and enjoyable by organising all the activities we did (rafting, volcano trekking, local day trip, national park visit and transfers to and from the airport) for a very reasonable price. Jan is the epitome of a super host. If we ever come back to Sulawesi, no doubt we'll stay at Ilasan Cottage again.
