A wonderful place in the hub of the city, yet on the edge of the countryside, hotel in Downton

Set in Salisbury, 300 metres from Salisbury Train Station, less than 1 km from Salisbury Cathedral and 3.5 km from Old Sarum, A wonderful place in the hub of the city, yet on the edge of the...

Pretty much every aspect of this place. It was spacious, clean, in a great location. All round it's the best stay we've had here in the UK. There is a very private courtyard outside the dining room that also contains the washer and drier, although hidden behind two slatted doors like a cupboard. Connected to the small third bedroom is another veranda with a table and a couple of chairs. Definitely a good deal all round.

The Carriage House, hotel in Downton

The Carriage House, a property with a garden, is situated in Salisbury, 5.9 km from Salisbury Train Station, 7.8 km from Old Sarum, as well as 11 km from Salisbury Racecourse.

Based on the online reviews and photos we knew that the interior was going to be of a very high standard and we were not disappointed - the living space worked particularly well. What we hadn't quite realised was that the property is set in such an amazing location, with fantastic views over the river valley and wide open spaces to roam and enjoy. We were visiting a nonagenarian relative during our 2 day stay - we would have happily stayed on for longer were it not for my granddaughter having to return home for the new school term...

Very comfy little one-bedroom barn with modern design and facilities for our daily needs. Also, it’s in the same village as my mum-in-law and very closed for our daily visit, superb location that you could easily catch a bus or drive a rental car. Also easy to go on different routes of walk from the door step.

Exceptionally clean and comfortable. It was very private with its own garden and parking. With both a front and back door it was airy during a heatwave.. Excellent use has been made of a small space. Close to the bus stop we had a day trip to Salisbury without any parking concerns. The village is so pretty, with plenty of places to eat. Walking was easy, with footpaths close by.

Very nice cottage in a quiet but pretty village. Definitely recommend the pub over the road - The Wooden Spoon, food is really good (said home made - and it really is) and the landlord was super friendly. The cottage itself is very spacious, bit dark downstairs in the lounge but we didn't spend that much time there. The bathroom is lovely and big and added bonus of toilet downstairs which is handy when there's 4 of you. Lovely kitchen with everything we needed in it.
