Extremely comfortable accommodation. Ample bedroom, sparkling newly remodeled bathroom. Hosts are very determined to please their guests, and are quite attentive. They have worked diligently to renovate an old house and the grounds, and they have done a great job. Carpe Diem is a super value for the cost. The location is exceptional for peace and quiet, but it is quite convenient to Beaulieu and Argentat, which are bustling little towns.

This is a very simple, basic hotel, with clean, comfortable rooms and its own bar and restaurant. This is not for those looking for a five-star, "international" hotel. We stayed at Le Commerce during a horrible heat wave, but although there was no air conditioning, the rooms and common spaces were acceptably cool. Le Commerce is located in an old-fashioned building in a very small village out in the countryside, with virtually no local services. A drive of about 10 minutes from Argentat (windy, forest road, not for drivers who have enjoyed alcoholic refreshment) or 25 minutes in another direction from Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne. Although isolated, provides an excellent base for exploring various beautiful places in the valley of the Dordogne. The hostess and her husband are lovely, friendly people, very concerned with the comfort of their guests. They are very relaxed and "personal". The hostess is also the chef de cuisine and offers nicely cooked dinners (definitely home cooking) combining Eastern European and French recipes. The meal plan is basically you-get-what-she-decides-to-make (and my theory is that they offer what they plan to have themselves.) The hostess was good enough to arrange a special birthday dinner for my wife's 70th birthday, which coincided with our stay at this hotel. If this is the sort of place you know how to appreciate, you are bound to have a very happy stay at Le Commerce.

Chateau de Chauvac is beautiful property, perched above a lovely valley. Mark & Lindsay were gracious and welcoming hosts. Nothing was a problem. They went above & beyond to make it a memorable stay and felt like genuine friends by the end of our stay.

The owners have put so much thought in to the property and have provided all the elements needed for a great stay. After a warm welcome we checked in to the tower. Compact kitchen is excellent- has everything needed to cook meals even sharp knives. We are traveling for a few months so it was great to visit a farmers market and cook for ourselves for a change. Great shower, nice bath, comfortable bed with lovely sheets and pillows. So quiet and peaceful- and a sweet visit from Hugo the house cat.

We wish to thank you for a wonderful stay in your beautiful gite. The house offers everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday, and is full of interesting and diverse objects. The outside views are lovely and the peace and quiet are something special. The location of the gite makes it perfect for exploring the area, and our only regret is having to leave...
