Arai-san is the most welcoming and kindest host we ever met! We stayed for four nights, so we got treated to different kinds of breakfasts every morning, even though it’s not included. Wherever we needed to be to start the day, she kindly offered to drop us off by car, which we appreciated greatly! She also helped us so much with planning our trips so we could make the most out of our days in Nikko. Tobu Nikko Station and JR Nikko Station are very close nearby as well as a supermarket and some good Restaurant/Izakaya. We recommend the Izakaya of Arai-sans friend, it’s so delicious and also one of the few restaurants that’s open after like 5pm, since everything in Nikko closes up so early.

They helped us with planning our day trips and were really nice to us. We ate breakfast, and it was great and worth the price. The rooms are big and comfortable, with all the required facilities.

I love the fireplace in winter; it keeps the space nice and warm. The room is spacious, and the bed is comfortable. There is enough space to put luggage. The bathroom and toilet are segregated by gender, while the washing station is shared. All the basic amenities are available, and you can use the laundry for a small fee. The whole space is very clean. The kitchen is fully equipped, and you can see Lake Chuzenji on a clear day. The guesthouse is close to major tourist attractions (by bus), including Kegon Fall, Ryuzu Fall and Yamato Onsen. The owner is super friendly and helpful. I didn't plan the exact spots to go, and he kindly shared some attractions that I could visit for 2 days and suggest some nearby restaurants. He has a lot of knowledge about nature in the Nikko area, and I could converse well with him in English, which was helpful as I can't speak Japanese. He also let me borrow a pair of snow boots as it was snowing the day I arrived, and I didn't have proper footwear for hiking the next day. It was very thoughtful.

It is conveniently located not far from the train station, it's spacious, has A/C and good water pressure in the shower, and the shared living spaces (kitchen, living room) were wonderful. The owner, Yoshi, was very friendly and gave me a lot of good information about the area. Loved my stay, would book again if back in Nikko.

The guest house features mountain views, a terrace, and free WiFi is available throughout the property. On-site parking is available free of charge. We had so much fun at the Midorian! It was a great location, since it was near all the sites we wanted to visit. We really enjoyed the property with the large garden area and the river behind it. But the best part was the amazing host, Arai san! Our daughters (ages 4 and 8) would have been happy to stay at the house the entire trip, since Arai san made it so much fun. At their invitation, he accompanied us to the river several times and even brought a net to help them look for creatures in the water. He also taught them how to catch dragonflies, a skill they have now mastered. :) The girls loved the bunk beds, and I loved the bath, which was always prepared in advance with the perfect temperature of water.

If you arrive in Nikko, Komiko is the best host you'd find!

It is completely non-smoking, and free private parking is available on site. Everything! The breakfast was pre-ordered and limited to 6 items per person (including infant). The atmosphere was really cosy and welcoming, it was great to have a common lounge to relax and 2 individual bathhouses for utilisation. There are some beverages and access to microwaves, oven, hot water flask in the lounge. Also, it is great that it had a small children section with suitable furniture. You can ask for the shuttle to a nearby restaurant but you will need to make your own way back. The bed and breakfast owner's family are staying in-house. So the owner is always readily available when called.
